M.Sc. in Bioinformatics - Batch of 2024

A well infrastructure college with good facilities and well trained teachers .
Placements: 50 percentage of students were placed last year (2022). The average pack is 25,000 offered in companies. The top recruiting companies include elli-lilly, thermofisher, Hindustan unilever, Merck etc. 100% of the students god internship in companies as compared to biotechnology and microbiology.
Infrastructure: The air-conditioned classroom is equipped with computer systems and Wi-Fi. They are using the latest technologies for students. The college has separate hostels for girls and boys. The ambience is good but the food is not up to the mark. It also has good canteen, medical facilities, etc.
Faculty: The teachers are well trained and qualified to teach and make sure that they are providing the best quality education. As compared to other bioinformatics course structures our campus has the best one. The semester exams are mainly application based exams and the pass percentage is good.
Other: As a bioinformatics student, I chose the best degree as it covers areas in both Biology and computer Science.

Satisfying college, good placement and faculty.
Placements: About 80 percent of students got placement. The M.Sc. Biotechnology course has four semesters. Each semester, the fee is INR 7000. The companies that offer placement are Serum Institute, Genetic, and Biocon. They got jobs under the vacancies of project associate and lab technician. Amrita has a good placement office that works effectively for the placement of students.
Infrastructure: Amrita has an amazing infrastructure. It has specific labs for each subject, such as neuroscience, molecular biology, Biotechnology, industrial Biotechnology, and biochemistry. The lab contains good facilities with all the equipment needed for a Science lab, such as PCR, a genetic analyzer, SDS-PAGE, and AGE electrophoresis apparatus. It provides a Wi-Fi network for the use of students and faculty. The library has a wide range of books, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Faculty: Amrita has qualified teachers with doctorates and postdocs. They are friendly and well qualified, with a helping mentality. It has a relevant syllabus that makes students efficient for their further studies and future jobs. The semester exams are easy, and the pass percentage is always above 90%.
Other: I chose this course because it has good job opportunities, and Amrita has good placement.

B.Sc. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2024
3.2

A really good college for Biotechnology. Not a big campus, neither is the surrounding.
Placements: None of the students were placed. No placements for B.Sc. Biotechnology. I think there are placements after M.Sc. Not a lot, though. A few students got into internships, but those were through their own individual efforts and not from the college. There isn’t any placement after your UG for Biotechnology.
Infrastructure: The college has well-maintained labs but not enough classrooms. The academic and research labs are one of the best aspects of this institution. The hostel rooms are pretty decent. The food in the hostel is not really great. The wardens are not the best. I would suggest staying out of the hostel.
Faculty: Most of the faculty are great at teaching, very professional, friendly, and well-educated in the field. Exams have a good pattern and a pretty good curriculum. The teaching quality is really good, and they are ready to share their knowledge. Exams are pretty tough and will definitely test what you have studied.
Other: There was a multi-fest during my second year, which was fabulous. There are a lot of programs that happen around the campus, but the crowd, as such, is not great. If you are looking for campus life, then this is not the best. But if academics is your goal, then this college is one of the best you can get in this field.

B.Sc. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2017

Get admission at Amrita (biotech) if you opt for good knowledge and exposure.
Placements: Placements chances are quite low after bachelors. Very few companies with pitiful jobs can be approached. Positions like lab assistant are possible. For seniors, i.e. masters holders, job percentage is around 15% on-campus. Companies like Biocon, Agilant Technologies, Serum Institute have campus placements. Salary starts from Rs. 15000 to Rs. 80000 per month. Internships are charming. Starting from the first year, there are 20% from each batch with a stipend from Rs. 6000 to Rs. 20000.
Infrastructure: The classrooms have projector based boards. Labs are good, BSL2 type available. Wi-Fi is highly secured, no unethical sites, no virus. Sports and games are very often organised. The hostel is very good. Girls have strict rules, boys will be fine. Canteen food is okay, mess is little poor. Infrastructure is good.
Faculty: Most faculty members are PhD holders, post docs, better than in any private university. Both digital and board based study approaches are used. Weekly seminars and conferences keep students updated both academically and industrially. The student-faculty ratio is 1:20. The course curriculum is similar to the mighty Harvard and MIT.

According to my experience it is a good college for Biotechnology.
Placements: For biotechnology, there were around 50% placements at our college. The average package offered for our course was around 5-8 LPA. The top recruiters for our course was Genetic, Serum, biocon, etc. The top roles offered for our course was lab technician, research associate, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at Amrita School of Biotechnology was exceptional, offering a wide range of facilities for students. The college boasts well-equipped labs with a variety of instruments, spacious air-conditioned classrooms, and comfortable furnished rooms in the hostel.
Faculty: The professors at our college were extremely supportive, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. They provided high-quality education to the students, ensuring that the course curriculum was relevant and up-to-date. Each student received individual attention from the professors, and the exams were challenging.
