Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech programs at Amrita School of Engineering?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for BE/BTech Programs at Amrita School of Engineering

Based on student reviews and feedback, here's an overview of the effectiveness of the placement cell for BE/BTech programs at Amrita School of Engineering:

    * Good placement record: According to students, most students get placed, with a few exceptions. The college promises 100% placement, although the percentage may vary depending on the branch.
    * Placement cell (CAIR): The Corporate and Industrial Relations (CAIR) department handles placements and interns, ensuring that students receive guidance and support throughout the process.
    * IT companies dominate: While core companies visiting the campus for mechanical engineering are relatively scarce, most students end up getting placed in IT companies. Top companies like Google, IBM, Microsoft, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro recruit students, offering competitive salaries.
    * High salary packages: Students report receiving impressive salary offers, with the highest package for mechanical engineering being INR10 Lacs in 2019.
    * Faculty involvement: The placement cell works closely with faculty members, who assist in preparing students for interviews and provide valuable industry connections.
    * Limited exposure for other branches: Unfortunately, the placement cell seems to prioritize CSE students over other branches, leaving them with limited options.

Here are the key takeaways from student reviews:

    * "Most students get placed, and the placement cell does a great job."
    * "While it's true that IT companies dominate, the college tries to bring in core companies as well."
    * "Students are prepared well for interviews, thanks to faculty involvement."

Keep in mind that these findings are based on individual student perspectives and may not represent the entire school or program.

    Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham College Review.
Placements: Placements in this college are good. About 90 percent of students get placed if they have no arrears. The highest package got was 54 LPA. The average is 5 LPA. There are many companies that approach this college for placements like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Mahindra, etc.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is great actually. The college has a calm and peaceful environment. Also, the hostel environment is good. But mess food is a matter of discussion. The college is surrounded by a little forest. This College is located in a bit of an interior.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers were helpful. Also, the quality of teaching is good. The courses taught by the teachers are really helpful and completely understandable. The semester exams in college are a bit difficult but it’s okay as the grading is based on relative grading.
Other: I chose this course because I like electrical engineering. Also, computer science gets good job opportunities. The events in this college are very low. Usually, there are no functions conducted in the college.

My experience in Amrita School of Engineering.
Placements: The placement statistics for 2024 are very good, with an overall placement rate of 96%. The average salary package was 12.4 LPA, with the highest salary package for the CS department being 51 LPA offered by Microsoft and the highest salary package for the EC department being 41 LPA offered by Intuit. Some of the prominent placement companies were Microsoft, Palo Alto, Bosch, Cisco, Atlassian, and TCS.
Infrastructure: The campus infrastructure is excellent. The library is well-equipped, and in addition to the academic labs, there are many research labs. The sports facilities are adequate, and Wi-Fi service is available. The classrooms are all well-equipped, and the hostel rooms and bathrooms are clean. The food is clean, but the only drawback is the lack of non-vegetarian food in the hostel mess. The cafeterias are well-stocked.
Faculty: All of the teachers were well-trained and qualified, and the student-to-faculty ratio was very good. Each section had at least two mentors or advisors, which made it easy to get help when needed. For a good research project or to publish a paper, we need to find it easy to find good mentors and faculty members.
Other: The primary tech fest at Amrita School of Engineering is Vidyut, which is held in April-May of every year. It is one of South India's largest tech fests. Some things that could be improved are to remove the mandatory attendance policies and extend the hostel curfew time.

    My knowledge about my campus.
Placements: In 2022, the percentage stood at approximately 95%, whereas this year it hovers around 40%. The highest salary package offered was 52 CTC, while the lowest was 3LPA, with an average of 7 LPA. Renowned companies such as Amazon, Infosys, and Cognizant were among the major recruiters. The internship percentage ranges from 50% to 80%, with companies like Cognizant, Infosys, and Google being the prominent ones. Job roles available include process analyst, web designer, and software developer, among others.
Infrastructure: Our Wi-Fi network for laptops is of excellent quality, while our labs are not only spacious but also equipped with advanced equipment and systems. The classrooms are also spacious enough to comfortably accommodate up to 70 members. With 4 fans and 6 tube lights, the classrooms are well-lit and ventilated. Additionally, our library boasts a wide collection of well-known books, offering students access to a wealth of knowledge.
Faculty: Educators provide valuable assistance, imparting high-quality education with a wealth of knowledge. The teaching standard is exceptional, with all instructors holding a Ph.D. in their specialized fields. The curriculum is indeed pertinent, equipping students with the necessary skills for the industry. The difficulty level of semester exams ranges from moderate to challenging, resulting in an average pass rate of around 70 percent.
Other: I selected Computer Science and Engineering due to its higher number of placement opportunities in comparison to other courses. The standout feature of CSE is its strong placement record. There is no room for improvement in this aspect. Additionally, the department organizes numerous events and festivals that promote extracurricular activities.

    Think before joining our university.
Placements: A particular CGPA is not required for our packages. But we need CGPA for recruitment for those companies. Above 7.5 CGPA is good for our course. The highest salary package offered was 52 LPA in 2023. The average salary package offered in the last year was 10 LPA and the lowest salary package offered in 2023 was 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Oracle, Verizon, Accenture, etc. Placements are based on the percentage. They are based on students' skills. Some of them got internships at Amazon, Microsoft, Wipro, Oracle, etc. Roles offered are software developer, data analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, and the library are good but our classrooms are not very good. Hostel rooms are above average. The food is not good, but students can adjust to the canteen food. Medical facilities are excellent. Sports are very good in our college. The sports complex is available at our university.
Faculty: Our faculty members are highly qualified. Most of them did their PhD.s in their respective subjects. They are very friendly with students. They always try to help students in several ways. Exams are very difficult at Amrita University. We can't write mid-exams easily if we can't study properly. If we study daily, we can get a decent CGPA.
Other: When I joined this college, this course was in trend, so I chose it. My parents also told me to choose this course. Students' degree certificates are very valuable when they pass out from this university. They have to improve the quality of mess food properly because we can't eat it. They have to improve the infrastructure properly.

Amrita offers modern infrastructure, good placements, internships, research, and healthcare.
Placements: Placement rates often range from 80% - 90%. The highest salary package offered is 48 LPA and the average salary package offered is 9.4 LPA. Top recruiters include companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Infosys, TCS, and BCG. Internship placement is strong, with 90%- 100% of students securing internships.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are often equipped with projectors and smart boards to facilitate interactive learning. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout campus and in hostels, but only to limited seats, not to all. Hostel food is not good, and medical, sports, and games are good.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and helpful. Their teaching quality is absolutely good. Curriculum is relevant and makes students ready for industry. Semester exams are not that tough, if we listen to classes and prepare, it is enough. Around 85% is pass rate.

Good placements, good clubs. I believe we get much more exposure than other colleges.
Placements: Around 80% students get placed. The highest offered package was around 50 LPA last year. The lowest offer goes around 4-5 LPA. Rest of the students mainly go for higher studies. Average placement is around 9-10 LPA. Companies like Infosys, Cognizant, Amazon and Cisco are common recruiters.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is as good as the rating, average. Wi-Fi has a firewall on it and also a limit of 10mbps but that is enough for doing most of the things. Sports facilities are okay. Canteen is also good but only a few selective ones. The classrooms are also very spacious.
Faculty: Faculty is helpful and we can also approach them anytime. Exams are also based on the curriculum they teach with some results we have to find on our own. Course curriculum is also updated regularly and has the subjects which are related to the industry.
Other: There's a national-level fest named Vidyut. And it's also very lively here with many celebrations going on always.

Q:   Which one is better for B.Tech, Amrita School of Engineering or TKM Institute of Management?

    A:
Both Amrita School of Engineering and TKM Institute of Management are reputable institutions in India, offering B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering. To determine which one is better for you, consider the following factors:
     Amrita School of Engineering:
    • Established in 2002, it is a private institution
    • Offers a seat intake of 780 for different engineering courses
    • Ranked among the top private engineering colleges in India
    • Accepts JEE score for admission
    TKM Institute of Management:
    • Established in an unspecified year, it is a private institution
    • Offers a seat intake of 186 for its management program
    • Ranked among the top engineering colleges in Kerala
    • Accepts JEE score for admission
While both institutions have a strong reputation, Amrita School of Engineering seems to have a larger seat intake and is ranked higher among private engineering colleges in India. However, it is essential to consider factors such as the specific program you are interested in, the institution's infrastructure, and the placement opportunities before making a decision. You may also want to visit both institutions' websites or contact them directly to gather more information about their programs and offerings.
