Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for B.Com students at B.J.B Autonomous College?

    A:
    {Source: B.Com students & alumni}

Placement Cell at B.J.B Autonomous College

Unfortunately, the placement cell at B.J.B Autonomous College seems to be non-existent. According to several students' reviews, there is no placement committee or provision of internships and placements for students. In fact, some students mentioned that they had to seek internships and placements independently, without any assistance from the college.

Here are some direct quotes from students:

    * "There is no placement provided by the college."
    * "Only a few companies like Tata, ICICI, etc., come for call center jobs, which I think is not a job for a graduate student."

In affordable fees, you can get the best experience.
Placements: Around 50% of students secure placements after graduation, while others pursue higher education. Internships related to the course are available, and information about them is shared by teachers in the official group, allowing interested students to join.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi connection is reliable, and the lab facilities meet the required standards. Classrooms are generally clean but need more consistent attention to cleanliness. The college is working on new infrastructure, which is a positive development. Since I am a day scholar, I don't have much insight into the hostel and canteen facilities.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified and very supportive. They provide additional insights into the topics they teach, which is beneficial for learning. Exams are conducted with consideration of students' daily workloads and other responsibilities. Internal exams are of medium difficulty, while end-semester exams are comparatively tougher.
Other: I chose the B.Com course because it offers diverse opportunities, and I have always been interested in commerce, taxation, and related subjects. The teachers are competent in providing the necessary knowledge and guidance. In addition to academics, the college organizes sports events, festivals, and other extracurricular activities, enriching the student experience.

Highly recommended for those who are planning to pursue competitive exams.
Placements: So our college doesn't provide placements and campus recruitment options as it's a government college and most of the government colleges don't provide placements. So yes, you can opt for this college if you are preparing for professional courses or competitive exams.
Infrastructure: The ambience of this college is very awesome. You will definitely enjoy your college life here. It's got an AC library and non-AC classes as it's a government college but you won't feel suffocation there. The hostel is quite good and you will be allotted a room as per your merit (percentage).
Faculty: The lectures here are very polite and highly educated. They are really helpful and approachable. You can easily approach them for your doubts. The courses are very practical. You will definitely enjoy them while learning. All the semester exams are quite easy if you are a regular student or a regular learner.
Other: These colleges don't provide you with any fascinating fests or anything. That's the sad part and also the demerit you can say.

BJB College - The best non technical college in Odisha.
Placements: No student joins this college for placements. The college does not assist you with placements. There are no facilities regarding Placements. The college does not have a placement cell. Most of the students are either CA aspirants or Government Job Aspirants.
Infrastructure: Hostels are available but are not preferred due to the living conditions. The hostels are in shambles. Unless and until you have a small monthly budget, do not opt for hostels. You can easily get accommodation facility near the college. There are many PGs for boys and girls available in BJB Nagar.
Faculty: The teachers were good. They are eager to share their knowledge if you are willing to learn. They are very cooperative. The college is not strict regarding attendance which is beneficial for Students preparing for any Entrance. The course curriculum is according to the Curriculum designed by Utkal University. It is upto date and constantly gets updated. The semester exams are strictly monitored. The pass percentage is around 80%.

Experienced and well qualified faculty members.
Placements: 75% of our batch were placed in our course. The highest package being 8.5L pa, Average being 4.2L pa and median 4.1L pa. Top recruiters included Accounting firms like AJA & Associates, K Swain & Co. CA Firm), and in the Consultancy companies like Deloitte (new branch in Bhubaneswar), and banks like HDFC, CANARA Bank, Cooperative Banks, etc. 35% students got internships in firms like Amul, Pantaloons, Esplanade, etc. Top roles offered were of Junior Accountant, Junior Consultant, Analyst, Bank Clerk, etc.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is mediocre. The campus is lush green and calm. But it lacks sport complexes. It has a cricket field, a badminton court and a volleyball court. Classrooms are well ventilated and spacious. Every department has got its own library and the master library being the greater among them. Computer Labs consist of approximately 60+ systems and is well maintained. Provides no Wi-Fi facilities. Hostel is divided into 4 segments and is very well maintained. Quality of food in the mess is mediocre because of large mass preparation. Canteen is better. Medical facilities includes a Dispensary for minor cases while for major issues we prefer the nearest hospital, Sparsh Hospital.
Faculty: Faculty are well experienced and qualified. They were quite helpful and knowledgeable and had good rapport with every students. The course curriculum is an updated one unlike other B.Com courses and makes the student industry ready. Semester exams are a bit on the tougher side and average pass percentage lies around 87%.
Other: I chose this course because it provides me an exposure into the business world. Commerce is the pillar of any business. Best thing about our course would be the updated version of it unlike other B.Com courses offered by other colleges. I think they could have focused more on the practical side rather than the theoretical one because it trains as well as educates the student well about the course. Fests were held every year and I coordinated 2 fests during my 2nd and final year.
