Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2022

I am disappointed with the college.
Placements: In our college, only a few students got placed with the help of a placement cell. That too, does not include any top companies or top roles in a company, just a clerical job. The recruiting companies recruit for jobs like sales and marketing which are irrelevant to commerce.
Infrastructure: There is no special infrastructure available in the hostel, though it has a playground suitable for playing cricket. Food is not that bad, I felt good with that. The hostel does not have any medical facilities. Sports in the sense of football are played well by the physical education department.
Faculty: Except for a few teachers, others are qualified and knowledgeable. The course curriculum was relevant. Exams are so easy. The pass around percentage will be known as soon as the result arrives. The semester exams are easy. It reduces the scope for accountancy.
Other: I was from a commerce background in our higher secondary. I wished to do chartered accountancy, so I chose B.com. In our college infrastructures and campus life should be improved. NCC and NSS are the only extracurricular activities in our college.

Master of Computer Applications (MCA) - Batch of 2020

The college has a good set of teachers with good quality of knowledge.
Placements: More than 70% of the students got placed in various companies like Infosys, Capgemini, CTS, etc. The starting salary package offered ranges from 1.2-2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Infosys, Capgemini, CTS and Wipro visited our college for placements. Almost 100% of the students got an internship in NASSCOM certified companies.
Infrastructure: Labs are well-maintained. The infrastructure of the college is very neat and clean. The library has a large collective set of books in it like subject-related books, government exam books, etc. Facilities available in the hostel are good.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are highly qualified. They were very friendly and much knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is also good. The course curriculum was good, and it will be helpful for the students to be ready for their field works in the future.

B.Sc. in Computer Science - Batch of 2024

Absolutely good for the students.
Placements: Software developers get the highest and lowest packages offered in this course, which are 21,002 and 25,000. The top recruiting companies for this course are ZEO, Cognizant, and IBM. A number of students got internships in companies like Zoho, IBM, and Cognizant. If you study this course, you can apply for various top roles that come under engineering and software development.
Infrastructure: Regarding WiFi, only staff and referred students can access it. The quality of facilities in my hostel, such as the room, water supply, and electricity, is good. I don't like the food much, and neither do my friends. As far as I know, the medical supplies started only in 2024, so I don't know much about that. However, there are many opportunities in sports and games for students to achieve their goals and dreams.
Faculty: The teaching quality of the staff depends on their subject and mentality. From what I know, they are good at teaching. The curriculum isn't relevant enough to make students industry-ready. The semester exams are not that difficult because the staff prepares us well for them. So, don’t worry about that—the pass percentage is 35%.
Other: I chose this course to get into the IT industry as a software developer, and the best thing about this course is that we can learn a lot of programming languages. To improve, I feel that we need stronger programming skills, communication, and better placement reviews. The campus, fees, crowd, connectivity, campus surroundings, scholarships, and extra activities are all available at my college.

The college is really good with nice faculty.
Placements: Many companies offered placements in the college. Companies like McKinsey, The Hindu, Amazon, etc., visited for placements. They offered jobs with a starting salary of Rs. 10,000. Out of the 80% of students who attended the interviews for placements, 20% of the students were selected and were placed in different places. There is a placement cell in our college which has helped the students a lot.
Infrastructure: The college has a good infrastructure with adequate supplies. The college consists of a fully equipped library, computer labs, designing labs, studio, games room, a chapel for prayer sessions and various grounds to help students achieve growth in their interested sports.
Faculty: The teachers were highly qualified professionals with doctorate degrees. They made the classes interesting. They used various teaching methods like seminars, powerpoint presentation, various tests, and play enactments, etc. in classrooms. The students were also taken on a industrial visit.
Other: Our college not only helps in increasing the academic capabilities of a student but also provides support towards extracurricular activities. Every year, our college conducts an intercollegiate fest in which students from other colleges visit to participate in the competitions conducted. There are scholarships awarded for the children as well.

Other: Bishop Appasamy College surrounding was good, placed in a good racecourse location. But in terms of education, it’s bad. What I mean to say is that, the faculty members do not even know what they are teaching. They do not know how to explain. Likewise, if there is a chapter on accounting, the teacher puts the solution to the problem on the board but tells us to put the questions which have no solutions. Moreover, if we ask to clear any doubt then the answer is "oops I will refer about this and tell you tomorrow". It’s better to make a good choice before taking admission into any college.

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) - Batch of 2022
4.2

It is a great college with a good environment, good people, and amazing students.
Placements: The number of students in our batch was 28. The highest number of students was from management and business administration, while the lowest was from the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Our batch is yet to get the internship, but quite a lot of students did their internship and got decent jobs. The top roles offered in our courses are Psychologist, Social worker, and a few work with different NGOs.
Infrastructure: The college buildings are pretty good and have a good infrastructure with a spacious football field and a basketball court. The hostel is pretty bad, so I lived as a paying guest. The food was good, but at times the cooks were quite moody and unhygienic. The medical and sports facilities were decent too.
Faculty: Teachers were extremely kind and helpful, especially those in our department because we work in social work. It has a pretty good environment to learn and enjoy. The course is quite relevant as it makes the students ready as they are the ones who will maintain society and guide the people. The semester exams are moderate, if you study for them, they will be easy or pretty hard. The question paper comes from Bharathiar University, so it depends on us how we write our paper. Teachers won't be able to help us during exams. Our batch had only 60% of students who were exceptionally good, with a few passing but receiving poor grades.
Other: Shiksha was helpful for me in choosing a college. I chose BSW as I want to become a psychologist and work in a wellness center. The best thing about our course is that we get to go to a lot of different places and serve people. I would ask them to improve on the communication skills. We have a yearly festival that marks the birth of the college. We celebrate Onam as well as Pongal, Christmas and New Year have a whole different vibe. We also celebrate Teacher's Day with a great performance put up by students.
