Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for B.Com at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun?

    A:
    {Source: B.Com students & alumni}

Course Curriculum at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun - B.Com

The course curriculum at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun for the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) programme is structured to cover essential topics in commerce education. Here's what the students and alumni have to say:

    * Relevant Course Content: "The course curriculum is fine as well and students are industry-ready." (Student)
    * Knowledge Coverage: ".the course covers all the important topics which should be covered by a commerce student." (Alumni)
    * Teaching Quality: "Teachers are knowledgeable and helpful. They provide knowledge but don't make you ready for the industry." (Student)

While the curriculum seems to focus on providing theoretical knowledge, some students feel that it doesn't adequately prepare them for the industry. However, the teaching staff is generally considered knowledgeable and helpful.

It's worth noting that the college does not offer placement assistance or internships, leaving students to find employment opportunities independently. Despite this, many students have reported securing jobs after completing their degrees.

Q:   How does the placement cell for B.Com at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun assist students in getting placed?

    A:
    {Source: B.Com students & alumni}

Unfortunately, the placement cell for B.Com at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun does not seem to be active or effective in assisting students in getting placed. Here are some reasons why:

    * No Placement Committee: According to some students, there is no placement committee in the college to facilitate recruitment drives and interviews.
    * Limited Campus Placements: Some students mentioned that companies rarely visit the campus for recruitments, making it difficult for students to secure jobs.
    * No Internship Opportunities: The college does not offer internship programs, which means students may miss out on valuable work experience and networking opportunities.
    * Negligible Scope for Training: There seems to be limited focus on skill development and training, making it challenging for students to become employable.

However, it's worth noting that one student mentioned that the college provided 70% placement assistance and many renowned organizations came to the campus to provide internship and placement opportunities. However, this seems to be an exception rather than the norm.

Overall, the placement cell for B.Com at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun appears to be underdeveloped and ineffective in supporting students' career aspirations.

DAV is a good college because it's a government college and it's very cheap.
Placements: Almost 80% of students are doing jobs. The highest package is 10 LPA. The top recruiting companies are TCS and Toshiba, etc. Most students do internships according to their skills. Most of the students want to do business or get a government job; that's why they take admission to DAV.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good, and they always help us learn about the course. The classrooms are good, and the library is pretty decent. Sports in college are very helpful for those who want to play more. Most students want to play on the national team, and this college provides you with the opportunity to take part at the national level.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful; they always help us. Their teaching quality is very good; we understand everything that they teach us. Sometimes the exams are very hard, but our teachers teach us so well that we know how to write answers and how to describe everything asked in the question.
Other: I chose B.Com because I want to do business and do a job in banking sector.

The worst college I've ever seen in my life with dirty classes and poor faculty members.
Placements: They don't have campus placement; you need to find a job on your own. This college is only known for politics. This college is only good for those students who want to pursue something else. If you want to get campus placement, no company has been invited by our college authority to give you a chance at direct placement.
Infrastructure: Dirty classes they just have big basketball court, a big building for classes and dirty, filthy washrooms. They are not well organized, and they don't have digital board, which they said they have. And other people on other website are provided with the wrong information.
Faculty: I don't find any faculty knowledgeable; they just share their childhood stories and don't teach properly. And if any faculty member is knowledgeable, then classes will not be held on time. Faculty is only helpful for non-educational purposes, like if you lost your ID card and you want a new one.
Other: The worst college I've ever seen in my life.

According to the fees charged for the year, the college and the infrastructure is satisfying.
Placements: No one gets a job or placement from then college, but the students can apply for jobs themselves. The average package offered in B.Com is around 25 to 30 thousand per month. The top role offered is that of accountant in any field from this course. There are 50% chances that you will get an internship.
Infrastructure: Hostel facility is not available. In my department, the infrastructure is good which had smart classes available for a few days when I took admission. A library is also available but nowadays it is under construction. A canteen is available but only fast food is provided there.
Faculty: The faculty in my department is very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is also good but only 3 classes are held nowadays. The passing percentage is 33%. Semester exams are not difficult, internal exams are easy but the external exams are difficult.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in accounts and the best thing about this course is that it teaches us how to do business.

I am satisfied with this college.
Placements: Almost 40% of students got placed in our college. The highest salary package offered is 35 LPA. The lowest salary offered is Rs. 60,000 per month. Almost 45% of students got internships. Top roles offered are employee, cashier, accountant, clerk, and many other bank-related services. Top recruiting companies are Talent Port and Sky Wings.
Infrastructure: Our college provides us with all facilities. Our course has 2 buildings. We don't have a lab. Our course has many students.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified. They are knowledgeable. They are not passionate about their work. They provide proper guidelines. They don't clear our doubts. Semester exams get delayed many times. The results are good. Almost 75% of students pass the exams.
Other: I opted for this course because of my interest in it. It is a government college.

The worst studies with the worst infrastructure.
Placements: None of the students were placed in my college. As it is a government college, no packages are offered and you have to hustle for yourself. No top recruiting companies. No top roles offered at all. No internship programme. It is a very bad college. You have to study on your own.
Infrastructure: Very poor infrastructure. It is an old building with cracks and foul smell. You can notice spider webs in the rooms. Even birds nests can be found inside classrooms. No Wi-Fi and other facilities are available. Hostel facility is not available. Sports facility is good and you can reach nationals with support.
Faculty: Teachers are well trained as it is a government college. They are well qualified and teach in a very precise manner. No it does not make students industry ready. Exams are not that hard, you can pass without even studying. You can also cheat easily. It's like a free degree.
Other: I chose this course because I want to become an entrepreneur.
