    Worth the Investment?

After analyzing the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, we've identified key strengths and weaknesses to help you decide whether a Bachelor's degree from D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun is worth the investment.

    Pros:
    * Low Fee Structure: With a fee of INR25,000, this college offers an affordable option for students.
    * Good Infrastructure: The college has modern classrooms, libraries, and laboratories, making it suitable for learning.
    * Helpful Teachers: Students praise the faculty for their dedication, knowledge, and willingness to assist.
    * Campus Life: Students enjoy various extracurricular activities, including sports, cultural events, and debates.

    Cons:
    * Limited Placement Opportunities: As a government college, placements are limited, and many students do not receive job offers through the college.
    * Infrastructure Issues: Some students mention outdated classroom infrastructure, poor Wi-Fi connectivity, and maintenance issues.
    * Course Curriculum: A few students feel that the curriculum could be improved to make graduates more industry-ready.
    * Limited Internship Opportunities: Currently, the college does not offer internships, which might limit practical exposure.

Conclusion: While the college offers an affordable education with decent infrastructure and helpful teachers, its limitations in placement opportunities and infrastructure development might affect its overall performance. We recommend considering these factors before deciding whether the programme is right for you.

Final Verdict: Based on student feedback, we cannot confidently say that D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun is "worth" the investment due to its limited placement opportunities and infrastructure issues. However, if you're looking for an affordable education with good faculty support, this college might still be an option for you.

Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for B.Sc. at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun?

    A:

Course Curriculum Structure for B.Sc. at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun

The course curriculum at D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun for B.Sc. is structured to cover the basics of Science and technology. While students appreciate the teaching quality of the faculty, they feel that the course curriculum does not make them industry-ready.

    * Content coverage: The course covers the necessary topics, fulfilling the promises made by the institution.
    * Lack of practical exposure: Students believe that more practical sessions would enhance their learning experience and prepare them better for the industry.
    * No emphasis on placement: The course curriculum seems to focus more on theoretical knowledge rather than preparing students for placements or internships.
    * Need for updates: Some students suggest that the course could benefit from incorporating newer technologies and innovations to stay up-to-date with industry demands.

Overall, while the faculty members are helpful and knowledgeable, the course curriculum needs to be revised to include more practical exposure, industry-specific skills, and emphasis on placements to make students more employable after graduation.

It is a very good college.
Placements: Around 250 students get placed in our course. The highest salary package offered was 17 LPA. Wipro, HTC, Caprus, etc. Around 70% of students got internships at HTC and HCL. Team leader role was offered.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi was available in our college. The infrastructure of our college was very good with 4 floored buildings. Hostel and canteen were not available. It was a very good college but the hostel life was not good.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college were very helpful. Their teaching quality was very good. The course curriculum made students industry ready. Semester exams were moderate.
Other: I chose this course because I have completed an intermediate in science background. Toilet must be neat and clean.

I am not satisfied with facilities.
Placements: In our college, there are no placements and no companies visited. You have to go on your own to get a job. About roles, you can choose a field according to your interest and you can work in IT-sector companies.
Infrastructure: Our college has Wi-Fi and a library, so there is no need to worry about books. However, Wi-Fi has not good connection and the classroom is in good shape and clean. Talking about mess and canteen, they have good food, but they didn't conduct sports events.
Faculty: Teaching quality is not so good. If you ask questions to teacher, they don't tell you the answer, sometimes they are rude and you need 33 marks out of 100 to pass. Semesters are not difficult if you study hard. It is easy in this college to pass the exams.
Other: In our course, you learn basics of science and technology. I think to make this course better, college should conduct experiments and teach us more about future technology that will help us gain more knowledge. They have to organise the events.

Our college is a good college.
Placements: Our college does not provide any placements or such things, but it is a very good college for preparation. All the students attend college for preparation for any government exam, but so far, no placements have been provided by our college. Overall, our college is good.
Infrastructure: The old library is currently being renovated, and the labs are also good. The building is old, but new buildings are being constructed. The sports facilities are good, and the college also provides NCC for students pursuing a career in the army as their source of income. Our college is a good college.
Faculty: The college staff is nice, and the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is also good, but due to political elections, classes are being held late. The semester papers are moderately to hard, but overall, our college is good.
Other: B.Sc. is a very good course for preparation for any exam; it provides us with the space to prepare for our exams.

Review of D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun.
Placements: It is a government PG college, but it does not offer any placements officially. The college prospectus clearly states that it offers you the best education and provides a certified degree, but the placements are not provided. However, placements drives are conducted once in a while according to government policies so students can take part according to their interests. The college does not provide placements, but it gives you the necessary education to shape your career with your own hands.
Infrastructure: The college provides all the necessary facilities and equipment required for the classes and labs. They are not too fancy but will not cause any hindrance in your studies or practicals. The library provides you with all the necessary books required for studies related to the syllabus and competitive exams. The library is quite spacious. The canteen is great and hygiene. The canteen provides affordable and quality food. An infirmary is also in the college, and in case of any emergency, it gives all the basic first aid facilities. In any serious case, transportation is also available. There is no shortage of games in the college, and any sports lover will love this place. Cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, and badminton are some of the common sports played there. Inter and intra-college competitions are usually held by the college.
Faculty: One of the best things about the college is its faculty members and supportive staff members. The college provides us with some of the best teachers in the city who are both talented and experienced in their fields. Almost every department has at least 10 to 15 teachers, including a HOD. Despite being a populous college, there is no shortage of teachers. They are really helpful, and they provide the students with the best guidance. They will be ready to help you at any time in college time. Most of the teachers are friendly and easily approachable. They teach you in such a manner that can help you cover the syllabus and prepare for your further studies or competition. The college conducts the exams semester-wise. There are 2 semesters in one academic year. Each semester consists of internal and external examinations consisting of 30 and 70 marks. Practicals are also taken according to the subjects. The exams level is moderate, and anyone can easily get good marks if they attend classes regularly. The pass percentage is 33%.
Other: The best about the college is its fee structure. The fee is low when compared to other colleges, and that too with quality education. It gives the best opportunity to any financially weak students. There are no studies, but enjoyment too as college fests and events are usually organised during festivals and new year. Freshers and farewell parties are also organised. There are arts and debate societies too so interested ones can take part and hone their skills. Singing, dancing, and essay writing competition are also conducted here.

Review of D.A.V. (PG) College, Dehradun.
Placements: It is one of the oldest and largest government colleges in northern India. It does not provide any placement because it is a government PG college. It is very good for studies. You can learn a lot from experienced teachers selected across the country.
Infrastructure: Facilities are very good in our college. It provides everything. The buildings are in good condition. Classrooms are average in our college. The library is very good, and you can find any book according to your course and books are updated. Our college does not provide hostels. Near the college, there are a lot of PGs at affordable prices. The food served is pretty good. Our college canteen is good, and the taste of the food is average. Sports events and competitions are held every month. The sports teacher is supportive and good. Labs are in good condition, and lab assistants are very supportive.
Faculty: It is a government college, so teachers are very qualified and selected from all over the country. They are very helpful and supportive. They teach well, and their methods are amazing. Exams are not that difficult, but it depends on our level of preparation. The pass percentage is 45%. The total fee for this course is Rs. 25,000. The course is designed in a way that you can also prepare for other competitive exams.
Other: Fest and events like fresher party, annual fest, etc., are organised by students of NSUI and ABVP. Members of the students union are very helpful.

Looking for a degree for yourself without much dependence on campus placement? Go for it.
Placements: It is not a college with great opportunities. Better to get placement by yourself. Do not rely on college placement. No such big recruiting company visits its campus. During my period, I did not get to know of any such placement offered by the college on campus.
Infrastructure: Facilities are limited but good; a government college with such low fees. Labs are not up to mark, but they have equipment for experiments. Classrooms are okay. The library also has some good books to offer, not with such great standards but overall good.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful here. If you really want to study, they will help. They are nicely qualified with great knowledge. Teaching is also good. They want to teach you from the basics. The course curriculum is relevant and helpful. Semester exams are not so difficult. If you just work on your course and study the material provided by teachers and the college, you can easily qualify.
Other: I chose this course because it is one of the fastest-growing industries of this century. More practicals could be done to make it a bit easier. The college keeps doing events on campus at some level. Scholarships are also given to selected students. Extracurricular activities are also done in college.
