Q:   Is it worth pursuing B.Sc. at DBS Post Graduate College?

    A:
    {Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Here's a summary of the key points:

    * Teaching Quality: Teachers are well-educated (Ph.D.) and hold prestigious qualifications from IITs. Teaching quality is good, although some teachers may be average.
    * Infrastructure: Infrastructure is average, with Wi-Fi available but not always functional. Classrooms are decent, but the building is old. No hostel facilities are available.
    * Placements: Placement cell is inactive, and companies haven't visited the college since 2016. Students need to focus on individual efforts to secure jobs, either by preparing for government exams or keeping up with their studies.
    * Course Curriculum: Relevant and structured around student futures. Exams are moderately difficult, making it possible for students to pass with adequate preparation.
    * Faculty Support: Teachers are helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to address student concerns.

Considering these points, pursuing a B.Sc. at DBS Post Graduate College might be suitable for those who:

    * Value a strong faculty-to-student ratio and qualified instructors
    * Are self-motivated and willing to put in extra effort to secure employment
    * Can adapt to moderate infrastructure conditions
    * Prioritize a solid foundation in their chosen field over luxurious amenities

However, prospective students should carefully weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. While the college offers a quality education, its limitations in terms of infrastructure and placement opportunities might affect their overall experience.

College infrastructure is old, faculty are good, and the course is also good.
Placements: Placement cell in dbs PG College is inactive and needs to focus on college placements of students. The last placement cell was active in 2016; since then, no companies have come into the college. One must keep his stronghold on the subject or prepare for government exams. By doing this, one can get a good job.
Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms are well-equipped, and students get the full environment of a laboratory. Each practical is made to be easy to understand and every student performs. As a hostel is considered a college, it is not residential. Games facilities are good; one can play football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, etc.
Faculty: Every teacher is well educated, holding a Ph.D. degree and there educational background is from prestigious institutions like IIT's. For the semester exam, one has to go through the syllabus thoroughly. The passing percentage is 33%. The teaching quality of teachers is very good.

If you want to prepare for government exams then this college is very good.
Placements: This college provided only academic courses, and no professional courses were provided. There were no direct placements in our college. This college provided graduate and postgraduate degrees, which could make you eligible to apply for government jobs.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was not very nice. There was Wi-Fi, but it did not work. Classrooms were average, but the building was old. There were no hostel facilities, but most students stayed in rented rooms in nearby places. No mess facility was available in the college. There was a small canteen.
Faculty: Teachers were very well qualified, but the teaching quality was not so good except for a few teachers. The course curriculum was relevant. This college was affiliated with H. N. B Gharwal University. The difficulty level of exams was not too high. We could easily pass the exams with the help of previous years' question papers.
Other: This was an academic course. You will find the student council. There are elections held every year for the Student President., General Secretary, etc.

It is an impressive college but some improvements are needed.
Placements: Around 10 to 20 students out of 100 got admission to M.Sc., and some got admission to MA. Some of them got shortlisted for forest research institutes and other botanical-based institutes.
Infrastructure: Our college provided free Wi-Fi, labs, practical rooms for every subject, well-decorated classrooms, and a big library to sit and learn from different books. It is a college for day scholars so students stay in rented rooms nearby.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were very kind and helpful. All of them were assistant professors or associate professors. They have an ocean of knowledge. Semester exams are good and easy so every student can easily pass them which are CGPA based.
Other: I chose this course because I was quite good at plant-based chapters of class 12th and found it more interesting and adventurous. The campus crowd is not much big. Our college is not much involved in extracurricular activities. Our college doesn't have a specific scholarship scheme and eligible students get national scholarships. University representatives and other designations are very hectic that was celebrated by every student of our college.

It is an average college with average facilities.
Placements: There are no professional courses available here so there are no such kinds of recruitments from different companies. However students do prepare for different exams and the alumni are working in many reputed fields like IAS, IPS, or defense.
Infrastructure: Facilities to be specified are very average. As it's a government college the facilities are not well maintained and the infrastructure is too casually made. Moreover, there are no sports or games available for students or any sort of curricular activities.
Faculty: Teachers here are very well qualified, and the teaching is interactive too. There are some of the subjects which are just monotonous and about lectures too. The passing percentage is more than 75%. Our college is known for its high education standard and the admission cut-off is high also.

Overall, our college just works for an average student.
Placements: Our College doesn't have placement facility available. It just basically gives us degree after the course completion. So after graduating we have to find jobs by ourselves. There are reservations for different castes. So I can say that you need atleast 50000 rupees to complete your graduation from our college.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi in our college campus and have different labs as per subjects. We have a library which I rarely used cause anytime I went there for a specific book it's been taken or not available. We have a canteen in in the campus with the cheapest meal.
Faculty: From my experience I would say that teachers were helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. We clear our doubts about studies with them often. Course curriculum surely relates to students future and our semester exams were tough.
Other: I specifically chose this course because I have interest in geology and to pursue my future studies. If there have been more technology for studies I would surely like to add to my college. Our campus surrounding has one of the most beautiful environment.
