M.Sc. in Bioinformatics - Batch of 2025
1.2
1Placements1Infrastructure2Faculty1Crowd & Campus Life1Value for Money
M.Sc. bioinformatics in this particular college is a waste of your time and money.
Placements: The college doesn't provide any sort of placements for the bioinformatics batch. The course itself started in the year 2022 and they don't have any laptops or software needed to teach bioinformatics. The department doesn't have any proper classroom facility, so the students have to constantly adjust and find any vacant classrooms for their classes. There are no companies recruiting anyone for this course. None of the students from this course got any internship from the college. If you want to do an internship, you have to join a workshop or training program from outside, as the college itself doesn't provide you with any.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are not equipped with computers, neither with a proper internet connection though computer classes are mentioned in the fee receipt. The classrooms are neither well-maintained nor cleaned properly. There is no canteen present in this college.
Faculty: The faculty has poor teaching skills and is not well-knowledgeable on the given subject. The teaching quality is average at best and the curriculum formed for this particular course is very poorly developed. The department doesn't have a proper HOD, so there is literally no one to listen to your complaints about the poor management or study style. Studying this course will not give the students any scope in the bioinformatics industry.
Other: Just join any other college for your studies.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2023

Not at all worthy to take admission from the career point of view.
Placements: There is nothing such as a placement cell in the college. There are no placement opportunities at the college. I completed 3 years at the college, and I have seen a number of students in 3 batches, and not a single time have I heard that any of the students got placed in any kind of firm.
Infrastructure: The college was built at the time of British rule, and since then, it looks like the college has not been renovated at all. The college is more like an old museum than a college. There are 3 floors, and the floors are so huge that you need a lift to go from one floor to another, and the fact is that the college lift is not working.
Faculty: The faculty is quite nice. Each and every faculty member is so supportive. Each of the professors is a well-educated and well-living person. The only thing is that they do not take responsibility if you want to study, and if you want to learn from them, you have to approach them.
Other: The annual celebration is so nice. Everyone has a great time in the large hall.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2022

Need modern teachers and the head of the department of commerce.
Placements: Elphinstone College is under Dr. Homi Baba University. Above 50% of students got placed in the Bachelors of commerce course. We get optional courses only in the second and the third years. The placements are not guaranteed by the same companies every year as new companies come here for requirements every year. If colleges treat students well, they will refer other new upcoming students to enroll in this college.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi is available for students, but it is only usable for half an hour. The college has a gymkhana, IT lab, Physics lab, Chemistry lab, and Biology lab. The college also has a few sports facilities like cricket, kabaddi, and rugby. A medical facility was available, and the canteen was not good and not clean.
Faculty: Teachers were good and always one step ahead to help their students. Some teachers were not interested in communicating with students, but some were good. The course curriculum is relevant for future students, and it makes students industry-ready, and the exams are difficult, and about 60%of students clear all subjects.
Other: The staircase is big, and elevators are only allowed for college management, not for students. The classroom is old, and the electric fans are not working properly. The college basement is good.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) - Batch of 2024

The college has excellent faculty members but absolutely disappointed with the poor management.
Placements: The placement percentage of students in B.A. is very low. Rarely does any top company visits the campus for placement purposes. Students who are seeking good placement should not come to Elphinstone. The college has a tie-up with internshala. So, students are asked to register there for good internship opportunities.
Infrastructure: Elphinstone, being a heritage college, has a good infrastructure facility. But the classrooms are non-air-conditioned. The library is filled with an abundance of books and has a nice sitting space. Quality of the girls' mess food is above average and the canteen food is acceptable as well.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and teachers are quite helpful in our college. Students are given exposure and opportunities in the scholastic area. Teachers focus more on practical knowledge compared to theoretical. Semester exams are of average level and the pass percentage of students are approximately 96%.

The staff are not helpful, but the college is pretty good.

Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi is available for students, but it's only usable for half hour. The college has a gymkhana, IT lab, physics lab, chemistry lab and biology lab. The college also has a canteen for students and staff. The college has a few sports facilities like cricket, kabaddi and rugby.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and quite knowledgeable. They are pretty young teachers, so they treat students very well. The course is pretty good, and it's quite relevant for future of students. It makes students industry-ready. Exams are quite difficult. Around 60% of students clear all subjects.
Other: B.Com is not a difficult course, and it's basic for commerce. It's not an expensive course. There should be more options for subjects. There are 3 main events in our college. Zeal is a sports event, and all the colleges are invited here to participate in sports like box cricket, ring football, chess, carrom and table tennis during Zeal. There are quite good scholarships for every course.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2019

I am not satisfied with college placements.
Placements: Placements were not good for all students. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Persistent, Rsl issues job to only 20-30 students. Some companies reject students all the time. If students were looking only for bachelor degree, I would not recommend students to take admission in this college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college was good. The campus was small, but the canteen and the maintenance were on the next level experience, because of britishers' design and style.
Faculty: Teachers were qualified and talented because this was a government college. They had to pass out exams. However, the faculty members were not good. This college doesn't make the students industry-ready. Semester exams were not tough, and they were easy. The pass percentage was 70%.
Other: I wish that to expand the campus and its exam faculty members. B.Com is not a difficult course so I am thinking to do M.Com.
