Review of Government Home Science College, Chandigarh.
Placements: Our college provides good placements. Every year, multiple placement drives are held, and 10-20 companies visit for campus drives. The minimum salary package offered is up to 3.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The campus is well-maintained and well-built. It has very beautiful and new building and gardens. It has a botanical garden full of plants and the whole campus is greenery. Hostel, library, mess, canteen, botanical garden, and Chaitanya School are some of the main attractions on the campus which make the campus very beautiful. The food is really tasty compared to other hostels and PGs. However, I don't recommend the hostel as buildings are very old and can collapse at any time.
Faculty: The course structure is very good and easy. Exams can be passed with some regular time management. But it needs some focus for sure. Teachers are highly qualified and make our studies easy.
Other: It is easily accessible from bus stand and all places as we can get bus to college directly from bus stand. Whole tricity is full of cabs and autos and this college being on main road is very easily accessible. Autos are easily available from bus stand. College is not hard to find as it is on main road. There is a bus stop in front of college main GATE from where we can get buses to whole tricity easily. So it is nicely connected!

Our college is value for money.
Placements: Placements in our college are average. Although the course is very valuable, yet many last year students remained without a job. It all depends on the hard work and intelligence of students. More than the college, placements are dependent on the students.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are spacious, huge and well-ventilated. Food quality in the mess and the canteen is very commendable, and medical facilities are 24x7 available for any emergency case. Sports and games and any outdoor activities are not much encouraged.
Faculty: Teachers here are great, and teachers put a lot of efforts to make students great in whatever the students pursue. Teachers are highly qualified in their field, and teaching quality is high.

Satisfied with everything except for the fact that there are no placements.
Placements: Our college did not offer any placements to the students. Only internships were given to the students in different hospitals. I was placed in GMCH - 32 for three months for training under professional dietician. Others were placed in PGI and some were placed in GMSH -16.
Infrastructure: Our college has an old building. It is a standard red brick government building. All facilities are available. The college library is pretty impressive. It has two floors and it is very well maintained. There's even a hostel and a well maintained canteen in the college.
Faculty: The teachers were very helpful at least in our course be it practical or theory. The curriculum covered each and every aspect of whatever was required as a prerequisite to work as a professional dietician. However, we received actual working experience only after we started working in our respective internships.
Other: I chose this course because I was quite interested in this course. I think it should be updated every once in a while to maintain the relevance since this is a field where everything changes pretty frequently.

M.Sc. in Home Science (Foods and Nutrition) - Batch of 2021

It is average college, and personality development subjects can be part of curriculum for students.
Placements: Enrolment for Placements is not done yet, but a number of students get placed to various companies. The average salary offered varies from 1 LPA - 2 LPA. . After M.Sc., students are sent for 45 days internship in the hospital with a letter of recommendation. Top roles offered in our specialisation is of a dietitian in the hospital, and one can also work in MNC, NGO, Anganwadi and many more. One can also work as a food scientist and home scientist.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good with good labs provided to students. Smart class facility is also available in some classrooms. There is a huge collection of books available for the undergraduate and post-graduate students from every field in the home science. Research papers and editorial sections are available for the M.Sc. . students to carry out their research. Wi-Fi facility is not provided in the college campus and hostel except the computer room. There are two hostels, one for B.Sc. Students and others for M.Sc students who are 83 in number. The hostel has an average infrastructure. But students are provided with food good in taste in the mess. No medical facilities are provided in the hostel. Canteen food is good and affordable. The college has NSS and NCC as well as sports team for competitionS.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are highly qualified and knowledgeable. But teaching quality is average, and no regular classes are held. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Teachers are helpful if students are willing. The course curriculum should be revised after a certain period of time.
Other: The best thing about our course is that a child can use and enhance his/her creative skills. The college mainly focuses on the overall development of the child. They involve each student as a part of the activities happening in the college. I wish that more basic concepts of the child should be nurtured and to be focused upon. Wi-Fi facility to be given to the students, and the crowd is good, and meritious students are also provided with scholarships. The location of the college is amazing, with many fests and extracurricular activities.

Dissatisfied with limited knowledge. Good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: 1. No placements for graduates. Only for post graduate students. The salary offered would be around 25,000 per month. Max hospital Mohali was the top recruiter, For master students and PG Diploma students. Assistant dietitian, helper in the clinic were the roles offered to them. 10% of master students got an internship.
Infrastructure: Wi-fi was available. Smart and spacious classrooms were available. Library having all types of books related to every course were available. All type of facilities were available in hostel, the food and mess requirements were matched for every student. There was no game facility in the campus. But medical facility was available.
Faculty: All teachers were helpful and qualified with various higher degrees. The curriculum is relevant to some extent. But students mostly have to prepare themselves for the outer world challenges because teachers are there for only guidance and bookish knowledge.
Other: I chose this course because of high demands in nutrition sector in all over the world. And I would want the college to make more comfortable and supportive activities to be included in this course for more enhancement of the horizon of student's knowledge.
