Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram - A journey of a law student.
Placements: I am in the 2021-2026 batch. Now I am in 4th year. I opted for a 5 years integrated B.A. LL.B. course. The average salary offered is Rs. 25,000-30,000 per month. Around 20-25% of students get placed. Other students do not want placements. Most of the students prefer litigation. Others are preparing for competitive exams like state, PSC, UPSC, SSC, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. There are different classrooms. The hostel is situated in the compound of the college campus. There is a three-floored hostel with a big mess hall, study room, reading room, etc. A mess, warden, and day/night watchman are there in the hostel.
Faculty: Faculty members of my college are qualified. Their teaching methods are really nice. They are very supportive and helpful. The course curriculum is relevant. Students are highly trained to become future lawyers. Many academic activities like moot court competitions, national seminars, MUN etc., are conducted for students' benefit.
Other: I chose this course because I want to become a good lawyer. This course helps me to know about how the laws in our country will work. There are also many events conducted in my college. The campus fest is also conducted like law and literature fests.

Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.
Placements: Placements are very poor. The college is now trying its best to bring companies and firms for placements. The work has started and it's going well. But as of now, the placements are not good. The students themselves try to get jobs, and teachers do help with it, but the college does not provide placements.
Infrastructure: The library is huge with numerous law texts, case laws, and everything. The library has Wi-Fi, and students can use it. The college has a ladies' hostel within its premises, and the fee is very affordable. Students from the 2nd year are given admission to the hostel.
Faculty: The course curriculum is relevant and contains all necessary things to make students ready. The semester exams are moderate, with a good pass percentage from the college. The teachers here are qualified, and they provide good assistance in our academics.
Other: The campus has many events and fests organized by student organizations. Academic competitions like moot court, ADR, etc., are also conducted here. The course is very relevant in society, and it’s very important for every citizen to have a basic knowledge of law.

Review on Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram.
Placements: Though there's a placement cell in the college, the college doesn't provide placements to the students. Being law students, we can either enter litigation or the corporate field. Entering the corporate field is very competitive now, and without placement opportunities, we'll need to find a job on our own.
Infrastructure: Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram is a 150-year-old campus, and the infrastructure here needs to be improved. There are not enough classrooms to accommodate all the batch students, no recreation area, no rooms for sports facilities, no gym, not even an auditorium. The college compound is very small, restricting the authorities from building all these amenities.
Faculty: All the teachers here are highly qualified and well-educated individuals. But most of them are very egoistic and tend to take revenge on students by reducing their internal marks. Still, there are some teachers who are very helpful, motivating, and encouraging. The curriculum was a bit outdated, but it was recently revised, including the new BNSS, BNS, etc., instead of the old IPC, CRPC, etc. The university lags behind in conducting semester exams on time and puts a burden on the students. The pass percentage is very low here due to the difficulty of the exams.
Other: I chose this college because it is a government institution where you are supposed to pay only a very little amount as fees for the same kind of education that would cost you lakhs. The college needs infrastructural improvements and should provide placement opportunities to students. The students are working on conducting events, fests, and all with their limited resources, which is highly appreciable.

Best Government Law College in Kerala.
Placements: Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, is the best government law college in Kerala. This college provides students with a unitary 3-year course and an integrated 5-year course. Students must complete their internships within the time period of the course.
Infrastructure: As the college is 150 years old, the infrastructure is poor. The college lacks an auditorium, ground, etc. However, there is a hostel facility available for girls coming from the north of Kerala. The college also has a good cafeteria providing breakfast, lunch, and snacks. There are no sports facilities available.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members here are Ph.D. holders. They are really friendly with the students and will help in any situation. They will groom us for many things like MOOTs and MUNs. For the integrated five-year LL.B., there are 10 semesters (2 per year). For the unitary LL.B., there are 6 semesters. Semester exams are pretty easy, but the pass percentage is pretty low. It is usually around 60 to 70 percent.
Other: I chose this college as it is the only government college that provides the B.A. LL.B. course in Kerala. The campus here is really beautiful. There is no ragging. It is definitely a scenic campus. Evenings are very beautiful. Infrastructure is the one thing that could be improved. The annual fee is 1500.

Sarkar Vaka Niyama Kalalayam.
Placements: There is a placement cell which only started last year, and the companies that came in were mass recruiters. The faculty in charge simply do not like holding placement drives as they lack the ambition for it and are afraid of the workload it brings.
Infrastructure: It is a 150-year-old college, so is the infrastructure, and the library is somewhat okay. In all this, there is no boys' hostel; they are situated in the university men's hostel 1 km away, and the girls' hostel is on the verge of falling down, as it is also 150 years old.
Faculty: The faculty is really meritorious and capable, but is only interested in taking salary and not teaching. They would rather play workplace politics. The curriculum is outdated, with paper records still being used. And the exams are delayed, with a final year student writing his third-semester exams before appearing for the viva.

GLCT gives students the strength to talk.
Placements: Political parties are trying with huge companies like Infosys, IBM, etc. So by 2029 or 2030 let's expect something more. Currently, there is no room for placement. College is doing nothing but from union, we can expect good and positive changes.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure needs improvements, hostel faces a lot of difficulties with basic amenities. Ladies waiting room and classrooms are not well maintained also needs a lot of improvement. Principal and other faculty members are not concerned about the lack of facilities or infrastructure.
Faculty: Teachers are not hardworking even though they are well paid. Teachers are highly qualified. They have a lot of knowledge but they don't put effort into us. Semester wise exams are very lag that it will be difficult for us to cover portions and remember them.
Other: Campus events and fests can be enjoyed fully if we are a hosteller.
