Government Medical College Gondia
Placements: Government Medical College Gondia provides MBBS and several MD courses. After completion of the academic MBBS course, it’s followed by a year of internship within the college with an average stipend of 18,000 rupees/month (as of 2025). Students passing out with an MBBS degree are obliged to work as medical officers under the year-long bond placed by the state government, with an average salary of 80,000-120,000 rupees/month. Students after graduation pursue higher postgraduate medical courses through NEET PG (as of 2025).
Infrastructure: College: Being a government medical college integrated into a district hospital (KTS District Hospital and BGW Women's Hospital), there’s a visible lack of infrastructure regarding academic purposes. There are 3 lecture halls, enough to accommodate 150 students, and one lecture hall with a capacity of more than 500 students at once. All lecture halls are equipped with smart digital screens, Wi-Fi, microphones, and speakers.
Hostel: Hostels (5 floors + lift) for boys and girls are present on the campus of BGW Women's Hospital. The rooms are in a flat-like system on each floor (ranging between 2 BHK-3 BHK). The hostel campus has a volleyball court and 2 water coolers for drinking facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified with profound knowledge in their respective subjects and many years of experience. The faculty members follow the MUHS curriculum, which focuses on competency-based learning. MBBS covers 19 subjects distributed over 4.5 years (3 subjects in the 1st prof, 3 subjects in the 2nd prof, 2 subjects in the 3rd prof-I, and 11 subjects in the 3rd prof-II). The examinations are at par with MUHS standards, giving ample exposure to students regarding final university papers at the end of each professional year.
Other: MBBS showed me a way to contribute to society, thus becoming a good citizen. It’s important to understand that MBBS as a course builds responsibility, as our decisions have drastic results on patients and their families.
Events:
GMC Gondia celebrates mainly 3 events:
Shivaji Jayanti in February, which is a 3-day long event with sports and cultural programs arranged by undergraduate students.
Anvesh (name for our college annual), which is held around April, is a 7-day long event with a series of sports, cultural, comedic, and aspirational facts and programs.
Ganesh Chaturthi - Nirvighnam.

Opinion of a medico in simple language.
Placements: Almost all students are placed at reputed institutions and government colleges. Packages for every student are also nice. Internships are provided to all the students with a stipend of ₹18,000 and PG seats are also there in the college so you can prepare.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is the worst. Hostels are overcrowded or, say, more than overcrowded. You don't even get enough space to breathe. In college, there is a small library but not all students are allowed there; you have to sit in lecture halls to study. There is no mess, only tiffin centres.
Faculty: Teachers are very student-friendly and helpful, also excellently qualified and expertise in their own fields. The curriculum is very good. There are 2 midterm examinations, one preliminary examination, and one university finals every year, and almost all students pass out.
Other: MBBS is a reputed course with a high scope.

Our college is the best in terms of education.
Placements: Each student of our college must do an internship for 1 year. The stipend offered for interns is Rs. 4,000 per month. It is not like placements in medical colleges. We can either join private hospitals or government hospitals after passing out the MBBS.
Infrastructure: The entire campus is divided into two parts. One part is Kuwar Tilak Singh Hospital, and the other is Bai Gangabai Hospital. Our college provides free medical facilities in the nearby government hospital. The hostel has a canteen and a volleyball ground. The hostel has 7 buildings with triple occupancy rooms and lifts.
Faculty: Teachers are very much qualified and experienced. Their teaching quality is good. They use projectors and green boards for teaching. All professors are MDs. They have a lot of years of experience. The pass percentage of the university is 50%.
Other: Many programs and festivals like the Ganpati festival and Shivjayanti are celebrated in our college. Sports events are organised in our college. There are around 150 students in each class.
