IIAD Collaborates with Serendipity Arts Festival 2023

March 12, 2024: IIAD collaborated with The Locavore team and the Goa Livelihoods Forum (GLF) for the 8th edition of the Serendipity Arts Festival in December 2023. Together, they curated a transformative design experience at 'The Village' in Art Park, celebrating the lesser-known cultural intricacies of Goan rural communities. Communication Design students, under the guidance of faculties Aarti Uberoi and Oshin Vipra Sagar, designed various branding materials such as postcards, menus, packaging labels, and maps. Anindita Banerjee and Muskaan Jain led the design efforts, creating over 100 illustrations and collaterals, while others like Vaalini Gupta and Amartya Chakraborty contributed significantly. The initiative began with immersive visits to remote Goan villages, where students engaged with local communities to understand their traditions and culture. Drawing inspiration from these interactions, students employed visual storytelling to showcase community stories and experiences, aiming to establish a connection with festival visitors. The project included a live community kitchen offering local food options and featured a comprehensive visual system, including postcards, menus, and packaging labels. The effort was praised by local women, who felt represented and proud seeing their culture depicted in the designs. The initiative not only celebrated Goan heritage but also contributed to fostering appreciation for local traditions among festival-goers. 'The Village' project at the Serendipity Arts Festival exemplifies IIAD's commitment to honoring tradition and embracing the future through thoughtful design interventions.

Indian Institute Of Art And Design Students Behind Upgrades At National Museum

January 4, 2022: With a series of technical modifications, seven students from the Indian Institute of Art and Design's Communication Design department in New Delhi breathed new life into the exhibitions at the National Museum in Delhi.

The team comprised students Nikhil Shankar, Risaal Shaan Sabbir, Shreya Bhardwaj, Aishwarya Shyam Kumar, Janvi Khera, Sreeram Jayaram, and Deepak Gupta, who worked under the guidance of faculty members Shaaz Ahmed, associate professor, and Inderjit Singh Jassel, lecturer, Software Technology, IIAD. The project was outsourced by Tricolor India Private Limited to the team.

"I decided to discuss the topic with the kids when Tricolor India Pvt Ltd approached us with it. We were exposed to a number of live projects in college (National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad), and the experience of working alongside the instructors was quite enriching. The benefit of a live classroom project is that your teacher becomes the lead designer, who is familiar with the client's and industry's objectives and wants. He provides direction while also guiding you to produce industry-standard work if things aren't up to par. The students gain confidence as a result of the experience because genuine work is included in their portfolio," stated Shaaz Ahmed.

Virtual reality, augmented reality, projection mapping, and other digital interventions are being used by museums to create interactive and immersive digital facilities that go beyond traditional exhibitions.

The National Museum's project intends to create change by creating interactive digital installations, displays, and information dissemination systems that engage and interest visitors. The seven-person crew was given three museum rooms to work on: Central Asian Antiquities, Company Paintings, Buddha Gallery, and Museum Reception.

National Museum Tour Application, multi-touch walls, holograms, interactive pond, flipbook, and rotoscope are some of the unique enhancements to look out for.

The National Museum Tour App is meant to allow guests to explore all of the halls and masterpieces while obtaining information and directions on their phone via a map and timetable.
