Pretty satisfied with IIJNM.
Placements: Out of our batch of 96 almost 50 of us were placed one month before our course was to end. Given the industry standards in that year, our packages were decent for people starting out in the industry. There was some serious competition between students of Broadcast Journalism and Print Journalism particularly but some organisations like TimesNet and Bloomberg chose students from across streams. Some other news organisations to visit our campus were The New Indian Express and we were mostly offered desk jobs as trainees and assistant editors since we were novices but there was a lot of scope for growth.
Infrastructure: We had the best of facilities at our disposal for learning. The computer lab, production room, recording studio setup, everything was brilliantly. The auditoriums where our classes were held were equipped with projectors and a decent audio setup and we also had a small library which held books across a wide range of genres and subjects. The hostel on the other hand had terrible rooms and very old wooden cupboard that seriously required replacing. The window glasses could crack at literally any minute and the food was terrible! We had sports equipment for leisurely days which were rare with such a hectic schedule.
Faculty: The teachers were qualified, knowledgeable and had sufficient field experience. We got the best of both practical and theoretical knowledge. A boot camp at the beginning of the course helped us develop a decent understand for all streams of journalism and even after we picked our specialisations we had absolute freedom to learn tricks for other streams. I chose Print Journalism but I also learnt how to build a website and how a production room operates during news hour. The curriculum is absolutely relevant and the institute puts in hard work to keep itself up-to-date. There are guest lectures held all year round and you get the opportunity to interact with professionals from across the world.

Choose IIJNM if you're willing to work hard.
Placements: Placement cell is fair enough. Top companies that come for recruitment are Times Now, Economics Times, Dean Herald, Reuters, Cogencis etc. But for those who are hard-working but are unlucky with placements, IIJNM helps such students through their strong alumni network.
Infrastructure: The campus is located away from the city due to this commuting is a little bit of a problem but there is always college cab for the students. They have every facility in Media Lab and it is accessible to any student till 10 p. m. Hostel is really good with spacious rooms, clean washrooms. Also have basketball court.
Faculty: The teachers are really helpful and they take care of students. They will listen to you even if your views are bizarre. They encourage the student to speak up. Most importantly, they are all generally journalists who have flourished in their respective fields. There are visiting faculty too.
Other: Campus life is too good. Students from several parts of India come to this college so diversity is strong. It, therefore, encourages an interactive environment.
