The JEE Main 2025 Session 1 exam for Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy to BE/BTech courses is scheduled to be held between Jan 22 and Jan 29, 2025. For BArch and BPlan courses, the exam is to be conducted on Jan 30, 2025.

Review of Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy.
Placements: Placements are good, as many seniors landed jobs in top PSUs like ONGC, HPCL, IOCL, GAIL, and other big Navratna companies. Almost everyone received a placement offer. Some analytics companies also visit campus to recruit students. College provides internships to every student.
Infrastructure: Our college hostels are excellent, better than any college. We have two sharing rooms with sufficient space and attached washrooms. Wi-Fi is also fabulous. Labs are good as well. In other words, everything is great in this college. Library has a sufficient number of books to read.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful. College has less number of students, so we can interact one-on-one with professors if we have any doubts, which is very good. Courses are also part of the GATE syllabus, so if we are sincere in our studies, we can easily secure a good rank in GATE.
Other: College has an annual techno-cultural fest named Shaswat is held every year. There are also many events continuously held in college by various clubs, student chapters, or the student body council.

What should you consider while taking admission in IIPE!
Placements: Placements for the batch of 2024 have been very good considering the scarcity of opportunities and offers country-wide, with most candidates securing a good placement offer. 14 students from the 2024 batch were recruited by prestigious PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) like IOCL, HPCL, etc. The highest packages for chemical and petroleum engineering branches were 17.3 LPA and 20.71 LPA. Several other major companies and oil & gas giants also come for recruitment, which include Halliburton, HLS Asian, Reliance BP, Total Energies, etc., to name a few out of the many that recruit IIPE students. Apart from placements, some good and well-known companies, like Halliburton, have also started to offer internships to students presently studying IIPE for good work experience and industrial knowledge. Students from IIPE also often rank well in exams like GATE in their respective field.
Infrastructure: Based in the heart of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, IIPE is temporarily situated inside the campus of Andhra University until the construction work for the permanent campus is completed soon. However, the college keeps students' best interests in mind and does not let education and knowledge be hindered. Students are provided with spacious and air-conditioned classrooms, well-equipped with projectors and other necessary items. There are also good facilities for laboratories for instruments related to coursework applications. Provided with a temporary building to accommodate all students, there are good facilities for conference rooms and computer labs as well. Hostels are on a double-sharing basis with an attached bathroom. There are a total of 4 hostels, with 3 men's hostels and 1 lady hostel. The rooms are well-equipped with basic amenities like light, fans, study tables, beds, cupboards and shelves to house all personal items. Apart from these, facilities like washing machines, a common TV, a gym, hostel sports equipment and an induction stove are also provided on a shared basis. The mess is situated within the hostels and is regularly cleaned and disinfected to maintain a clean environment. Hostel food is on the basis of a set menu that is decided by the students and regular Mess Meetings ensure that all student discrepancies with mess-related issues are addressed for all. The menu is curated keeping in mind all cuisines for the diverse student crowd.
Faculty: The faculty is very knowledgeable and helpful. They encourage students to pursue projects and think outside the box to pursue ideas, in addition to preparing them for the industry and workplace. The professors and teaching staff always keep the best interests of students in mind and address all their concerns and problems patiently. Questions, doubts and inquisitiveness in the course curriculum are always appreciated. The course curriculum is shaped keeping in mind the latest trends in the workplace. Students are taught all the basics of all subjects well and in a way to help with critical thinking. The semester exams also focus on what is taught in class and help students with their thinking and application of their knowledge.
Other: Fests and sports events are taken very seriously at IIPE. Students are encouraged to take part in multiple sports events throughout the academic year. IIPE recently started their Techno-Cultural Fest 'Shaswat' in 2023, which promotes various events and entertainment for students on a large scale. The campus crowd is good and consists of people from all over the country, hence making it very diverse and interesting.

Absolutely good because of the faculty, good placements in 2023 and really good hostels.
Placements: In my course, the number of students registered for placement is 38, out of which 37 got placed, which is approximately 97.4 percent in the chemical branch (2023 batch students). 2 students are placed in GAIL, 4 in HPCL, 3 in IOCL, and many more reputed companies visited.
Infrastructure: Hostels are approximately 2-5 km far from the college. IIPE does not have its permanent campus, so it provides private hostels, which I can say are better than IITs' hostels. As for infrastructure, IIPE generally invests in modern facilities to support academics and research with libraries and laboratories.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and qualified enough to solve our doubts, and their teaching quality is also good. I'll not say excellent because it depends on students. In my case, I will say they are good. IIPE's course curriculum is the same as that of IIT KGP. And if we pay attention in class, then semester exams are also not that much difficult.
Other: Why did I choose chemical engineering here? So, as per career prospects, graduation from IIPE with chemical engineering could open doors to diverse career opportunities in industries like petrochemical, energy production, and many more. IIPE has good connections with PSUs as well, like GAIL, HPCL, IOCL, ONGC, and many more.

A Brief Review of my College-IIPE.
Placements: Over 93% students have been placed in various companies. The highest package offered by Halliburton stood at 20.71 LPA. Some of the named recruiters including PSUs are HPCL, HMEL, HRRL, IOCL, L&T Hydrocarbon, Worley, Reliance, Total Energies, and TATA Group.
Infrastructure: Our own college campus is under construction. Even though we do not have a campus now, we still have fully air conditioned and spacious classrooms with Wi-fi connectivity. S. R Ranganathan Library of our college has numerous books in various domains. As already specified, we do not have college campus. Hostels are private ones. Hostels have double occupancy rooms with attached washrooms. Mess food is pan-India based as there are students across the country. Modern utilities like washing machines, water filter are provided as well.
Faculty: Professors are helpful when it comes to doubt resolving. Semester exams are not hard to pass if one gives enough attention during class hours.
Other: I am pursuing chemical engineering. I feel chemical engineering opens up doorways in various domains like petrochemical, pharmaceutical and many more. That's the best thing about my course. We have techno-cult fest named Shaswat. Participants are from various colleges across the country.

A good research-oriented institute.
Placements:
PLACEMENTS: As IIPE has increased its branches by introducing the B.Tech Mechanical and M.Sc. Geology and Earth Science, it is expecting more placements in the upcoming years. However, for the current batch of 2024, only two branches, B.Tech Petroleum and B.Tech Chemical Engineering, are passing out. As of 31st May 2024, 94% of students are placed, and the placements are still ongoing. The highest package for the petroleum branch is 20.71 LPA CTC, and for the chemical engineering branch, it is 17.3 LPA CTC. The average package for both branches is around 9 LPA. The top recruiting companies include HPCL, ONGC, Shell, Schlumberger, IOCL, HMEL, Jindal, GAIL, HLS Asian, Quantiphi, Halliburton, TATA Group, Oil India, TCS, Reliance BP, Total Energies, Wipro Gas Ltd., Argus Oil and Gas, Worley, Adani Gas, Line, Accenture, Self Drilling, L&T Hydrocarbon, etc. Additionally, this year HRRL, a joint venture of HPCL and the government of Rajasthan, has come for placements for the first time.
INTERNSHIP: All the students at IIPE receive internships in the core industry, like HPCL, ONGC, IOCL, GAIL, HLS, etc.
Infrastructure: HOSTELS: We have 24/7 Wi-Fi and electricity facility at IIPE. As IIPE is currently functioning at its temporary campus, the hostels at IIPE are private hostels that are rented. Hence, the hostels are well-maintained and are of supreme class. Each room is occupied by 2 students max. Each room consists of attached bathrooms. The rooms generally consist of a cot, mattress, bucket, geyser, cupboards, mirror, and other basic amenities.
CLASSROOMS: The classrooms consist of AC, hence it maintains a comfortable environment for studying. Also, Wi-Fi is available for students' use.
LABS: As IIPE is currently functioning on its temporary campus, IIPE is yet to be equipped with a few labs, but IIPE already consists of most of the labs. The instruments in the lab are well-maintained and through the lab experiments, students are mentored by lab assistants, professors, and various Ph.D. scholars. Hence, the labs are very interesting and students have the liberty to try various new things under supervision. In case a lab is not available at the institute, the institute collaborates with other esteemed institutes such as IIT Madras, IMU Visakhapatnam to meet the additional lab requirements.
LIBRARY: They are equipped with 2,973 books and have provided access to various e-resources such as Royal Society Chemistry, SPE, Wiley, etc. Also, computers are available in case students would like to use the internet and books simultaneously for studying. You can regularly issue books from the library to study at your hostels.
MESS: The mess food is very hygienic and students have the liberty to fix the menu by themselves every semester. Hence, students enjoy the vibrant menu.
MEDICAL FACILITIES: Generally, when any student falls ill, the caretaker of the hostel takes the lead to reach out to the hospital and do the necessary requirements. IIPE also has an institute doctor, to whom students can consult regularly in case they fall ill. Also, the institute provides a Health Insurance card to all the students, which could be used during any serious medical emergency.
SPORTS & GAMES: Students can issue various sports equipment like bat, badminton, football, volleyball, basketball, etc. Also, the institute organizes various sports tournaments regularly. The sports culture is pretty decent in the institute.
Faculty: FACULTY: The faculty at IIPE is highly knowledgeable and skilled. All of them have completed their Ph.D., and most of them have done their post-doctoral studies from many institutes abroad. Also, a few of the professors were pursuing their careers in the core oil and gas industry, hence they sometimes provide real examples and situations during the lecture. Assignments are provided regularly, and most of the professors are very cooperative with the students and also clear doubts after the classes. All of them are very approachable.
CURRICULUM: The curriculum is relevant to the industrial norms and is updated regularly if required. Also, the institute promotes students to visit various industrial visits from the 2nd year itself, hence students get to have a first-hand experience of the industries.
EXAMS: The exams at IIPE are tough; students need to regularly study to maintain a good CGPA. Also, the exams are proctored very well, hence the chances of cheating are very less.
Other: ABOUT THE COURSE: IIPE is one of the institutes under the MoPNG which focuses primarily on the oil & gas and energy sector. Now we are in the era where EVs and Green hydrogen are common topics of discussion; coming here gives you a better exposure to all of that.
FEST: IIPE has its own techno-cultural fest named "SHASWAT" where many colleges participate, and those days have festive vibes at the institute. Hence, it's a good refreshment from the regular coursework.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: The student gymkhana at IIPE takes care of all such activities. From music, song, dance, tech, coding, poetry debates, etc.

Everything is good and we are happy with our decision.
Placements: About 70% of the students are placed in 2023–2024. The highest package is 20.70 LPA this year (PE).
The lowest package is 5 LPA (PE).
The average package is 8 LPA (PE).
Top recruiting companies: Halliburton, Wipro, HLS, Asian, Quant Phi, Worley, and Reliance.
Internship: mostly 80% of the students got internship in ONGC

Infrastructure: Everything is excellent. Currently, we do not have our own permanent campus so we are staying in private hostels provided by the college and they are excellent, with excellent Wi-Fi and well-equipped labs. Gym facilities and sports equipment are also available in the hostel.
Faculty: Everything is good and the syllabus is according to the GATE exam. Teachers are also helpful. Semester exams are not easy (up to the mark as you have cleared the JEE Advanced exam) and the pass percentage is 80%. The curriculum is good and we are happy with that.
Other: I love petroleum engineering because it is the highest-paying profession in the world. And I also love to work in off-shoe regions. Events are organized from time to time. Our fest is also excellent and has gotten good responses from all parts of India. Scholarship opportunities are good and extracurricular activities are also good.
