Commonly asked questions
On Admissions

Q:   Can I join KJ Somaiya Medical College directly?

A:

Even if it sounds appealing, there is no direct admission to KJ Somaiya's MBBS program. Admissions are handled through a centralized Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) process and a strict meritocratic system based on National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) scores. For all prospective medical students, this guarantees justice and equal opportunity.

Put all of your energy into being a NEET student, developing your abilities, and comprehending the nuances of MCC counseling. Make a list of your preferences and prioritize KJ Somaiya if that is how you want to go about your schooling. Recall that entry to KJ Somaiya is obtained through diligence, an exceptional NEET performance, and skillfully navigating the counseling maze—not by eschewing protocol.

Q:   When is KJ Somaiya Medical College application forms out?

A:

For its MBBS program, KJ Somaiya Medical College does not accept individual applications. The main criteria for admission are your results from the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET), and if you're applying under the state quota, your results from the Maharashtra NEET as well.

Typically, the NEET results are released in May or June.
Then, in June or July, MCC will start the online enrollment and counseling process.
You can indicate your preferences for KJ Somaiya Medical College as well as other colleges and courses during the counseling session.

Consequently, you are not need to await the release of the KJ Somaiya application form on a particular day. To increase your chances of being granted a seat during the MCC counselling process, concentrate on being well-prepared for and performing well in the NEET/Maharashtra NEET.

NEET is given more weight, but Maharashtra applicants may also be evaluated under the state quota.

Your chances of being chosen are increased the higher your rank.

The admissions process at KJ Somaiya is essentially entrance- and merit-based since it ranks applicants according to their performance on a standardized entrance exam (NEET) and then distributes seats in accordance with that ranking.Recall that your top priority should continue to be achieving a high NEET and/or Maharashtra NEET score in order to improve your chances of being admitted to this esteemed medical school.

Q:   What is the seat intake for MBBS at KJ Somaiya Medical College?

A:

The number of seats in reserved categories is 30, or 60% of the total. Such groups like Physically Handicapped (PH), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Scheduled Castes (SC) fall under this definition.

Note that government restrictions and annual notifications may cause some variation in the precise allocation of seats within the protected categories.

Only the teaching quality is good here, and nothing else is good.
Placements: Internships in our college are not much hectic. Many people get internships in college. The intake is 100 from 2022. 2 seats in gynecologist MD and MD pediatrics each. DNB courses are offered in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, ophthalmology and orthopedics are present.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in the hostel. Mess is really good. The library is average. AC facilities are available only in PGs. It will gradually be better as it's under construction. The hostel building is under construction, and it's larger than the hospital building. There is a football turf and a cricket ground, but everything is a paid facility here.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and very good. The quality of teaching is really good. Postings are conducted regularly and are also strict. Semester exams are held on time, and the syllabus is completed well before the university exams, giving adequate time for self-study.
Other: The best thing is the teaching quality and nothing else. Campus life is not much good. We have to even pay for the cricket ground and football ground which belongs to the college.

K. J. somaiya medical college is best for M. B. B. S. course .
Placements: Clinical universities don't give situations. You rather do temporary position where you are prepared with the abilities important to turn into a decent inhabitant during PG or a General Practitioner. You are all around presented to every one of the strolls of medication and medical procedure. Temporary job is the best time frame to foster abilities.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. MBBS is a 5 and a half long periods of educational programme including one year of temporary position. College tests are led toward the finish of every year. Clinical postings are begun as right on time as in the subsequent year. Accordingly the scholastics contain both hypothetical and down to earth information and learning.
Faculty: Proficient and Experienced. The personnel comprises of specialists who are working in the clinic and hence they assist the understudies with their clinical abilities alongside hypothesis information. The workforce is very specific with regards to understudies participation and urges the youngsters to create and succeed in all fieldsThere will be a sum of 50 understudies in MBBS in each group. After PG NEET test, we participate in various emergency clinics for MD or MS or DNB courses. We seek after PG in KJ Somaiya residency programme in MD pediatrics, MS ob-gyn, MD medication, MS medical procedure and MD life systems. In any case, there are restricted confirmations, I. e. , just 1-3 affirmations.
Other: It gives assistance individuals who are poor however splendid in examinations by Prakalp establishment and furthermore individuals who are doing clincher in school test and selection test they likewise getting the cost from the school and endorsement around 20000 thousand rupees and school additionally helps individuals who are from EBC.

It has a good infrastructure. Professors and doctors are qualified and knowledgeable in their field.
Placements: There will be a total of 50 students in MBBS in every batch. After PG NEET exam, we join in different hospitals for MD or MS or DNB courses. We pursue PG in KJ Somaiya residency programme in MD paediatrics, MS ob-gyn, MD medicine, MS surgery and MD anatomy. But there are limited admissions, i.e., only 1-3 admissions.
Infrastructure: The library is very good here with almost all medical books and medical journals, including recent editions. There is a password-protected Wi-Fi facility on the entire hospital and college. Labs and classrooms are clean and ventilated, and the equipment is available for experiments. Hostel facilities are good with rooms and bathrooms, and the food served is hygienic and good. There are a canteen and a mess. Sports and games are conducted during fests, and there are a football ground, dodgeball court, turf, skating rink, cricket ground, etc.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful and approachable. They are qualified and knowledgeable in their field, and their teaching is both theoretical and practical based. The course curriculum of MBBS is very vast, and the topics are taught using modern technologies as well for better understanding. Our college provides postings in hospitals, which also help students to get an idea about the working environment of a hospital. The course curriculum also makes students ready for their future.
Other: I have chosen medical as a career as I wanted to be a doctor because it is my passion. The medical course is very tricky, fun and also hard and exciting. I wish that our college should introduce more practical based learning. Every year our college organises fest in between February and March. The campus is surrounded by greenery.

Medical Education in Somaiya.
Placements: Medical colleges do not provide placements. You instead do internship where you are trained with the skills necessary to become a good resident during PG or a General Practitioner. You are well exposed to all the walks of medicine and surgery. Internship is the best period to develop skills.
Infrastructure: The Somaiya Ayurvihar campus has sports facilities as well as a great indoor campus. Classrooms are spacious. Multiple vegetarian canteens. Hostels are in the hospital itself so it's convenient to attend the clinics. The laboratory is well-equipped and hostels are value for money. The library is well-equipped with medical books and is open 24*7.
Faculty: The class strength being only 50, students are not neglected. The teaching staff is full of reputed and renowned doctors so the quality is as good. The PG residents are very supportive and play a major role in providing practical knowledge. Students are free to attend clinics and learn from the doctors at any time.

It's a good college but the only drawback is it's high fees.
Placements: The placements in our college are average. We receive packages less than other government colleges in Mumbai but more than other government and private colleges in Maharashtra. Almost every single student get placed from our campus with a good package at the start.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in our college is average. Classrooms, library, and labs are well built with almost all the facilities, The only problems are that we don't have an indoor sports room, the mess is unhealthy and a bit costly, and we don't receive free medical facilities. The pharmacy doesn't have all the medicines available.
Faculty: Teachers and especially the non-teaching staff are very kind, helpful, and friendly. They make a student ready to face the outside world as a doctor. Institutional exams are a bit difficult which makes us study more before our university exams so that we are well prepared for them.
Other: It was my parent's dream to see me as a doctor so I had to choose this course. Also, I wanted to pursue an MBBS degree in Mumbai so I went to this college. The fest budget is comparatively low and even the extracurricular activities are not much.
