Q:   Are admissions at Maharani Cluster University entrance-based or merit-based?

A:

Maharani Cluster University (MCU) predominantly uses merit-based admissions; however, some programmes may also need entrance exams.Admission to undergraduate programmes is often determined by a candidate's score on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) or the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), depending on which exam is required. However, MCU administers its own admission test for a few particular programmes, such the B.Sc. in Computer Science or the B.Sc. in Electronics.

Admission to postgraduate programmes is generally determined by a candidate's performance on the appropriate postgraduate entrance test, such as the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) for Engineering (JEE-Main) or the National Eligibility Test (NET). Admission to the Research programme is determined by the candidate's academic background, research experience, and, if relevant, score on the Research Entrance Test (RET).

MCU uses entrance tests for some courses, postgraduate and research programmes, and for select courses alone, even though its undergraduate admissions process is predominantly merit-based. To ascertain the relevant selection procedure, applicants should thoroughly study the admission requirements for the programme they wish to enrol in.

Best College for Women Education is Maharani College for Women Autonomous.
Placements: 60% of students are placed in this college. The highest package is 12 Lacs, and the lowest is 6 Lacs, offered for the Biotechnology course. The companies are AstraZeneca, Biocon, and others. 50% of students have done their internship, and the top roles are Manager, Biotechnologist, and others.
Infrastructure: Good infrastructure and facilities are provided for the course. Our college has good computer facilities with the fastest versions of them and also free Wi-Fi facilities for all students and faculty. There is a canteen and an emergency medical facility inside the college. Sports are also encouraged by students.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified with good doctoral degrees and have also cleared national-level exams. They teach us in a simple way, reducing the complexity and hard topics into easy ones. The syllabus is great and updated with trending technologies. The exams are easy based on our preparation, and 75 is the minimum pass percentage.

Extracurricular activities held. Science fest.
Placements: This happens only after you have done some internships and have the required exposure and skill sets, which first need to be shown at the placement cell. Nearly 70% of students are placed from our campus with an average placement of 5 LPA, and in 2022, one student bagged an offer worth 21 Lakh from Brain & Co, still remains the highest ever.
Infrastructure: Awesome about the campus. This is the only college where sports are upheld to another level. Students who are interested in sports must join college for you people. Very good books are available in the library, and librarians are very helpful and supportive.
Faculty: Faculty members for each stream are hired in numbers. We have almost three professors for each subject and therefore one will never see a lecture being missed. 1:6 is the student ratio, which is a sick ratio as these many professors for each stream is possible only in SJU. Exams happen twice every semester that lasts four and a half months.

Expectations and reality.
Placements: Around 30% to 40% of students were placed through college in my course. The highest package offered was ₹6,00,000, the lowest package offered was ₹2,50,000, and the average package offered was ₹3,00,000 in my course. The top recruiting companies in my course were Deloitte, Northern Trust, Accenture, and Capgemini. Eighty percent of the students got internships, and most of them were in the finance sector.
Infrastructure: The college has a good number of computer systems for students studying computer applications and courses offered to others in computer science. The Wi-Fi facility provided is also good. Classrooms are fewer in number, and the college must focus on increasing them. The library has a good range of books but should also keep books relevant to government or competitive exams.
Faculty: The teachers were helpful in my course, and they were highly qualified and knowledgeable. The quality of teaching was also good and followed an authentic traditional method, which is nowadays found less frequently. The course curriculum is relevant, and it does make students industry-ready.

Infrastructure wasn't up to the mark and facilities too, but now they've developed & are well-build.
Placements: Seventy percent of students were placed in B.Com, with salaries ranging from 6-12 lakhs per annum. MNCs like Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services are among the top recruiters. Eighty percent of students got internships from B.Com courses, and the companies include Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services. B.Com with Data Analytics and B.Com with Professional Courses, along with BCA and B.Sc, are also offered.
Infrastructure: The library is very helpful and disciplined. Classrooms are well-maintained, and the labs have good infrastructure. Canteen services are very good and affordable. Sports facilities are always of high quality, and the gym is well-equipped. Games periods are refreshing in the morning, and medical facilities are useful, providing the best services.
Faculty: Teachers are very friendly and well-trained. The teaching quality is very good. Semester exams are a little challenging, and the passing percentage is 35%. The teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable, and their teaching techniques ensure that you understand the material.
Other: I chose B.Com because it allows for job opportunities in various sectors and provides a pathway to government exams as well. It’s a normal college course with additional courses that enhance your resume, which will be helpful for placements. Events and festivals are highly anticipated, and scholarships are available.

I liked the infrastructure of the university because first of all, it is in an outer area.
Placements: Students become eligible for campus placement from the 4th year. Many companies arrive on campus and take their exams, and based on performance, they shortlist candidates. Each year almost 150 companies visit our college, and almost 85 to 90 percent of students get placed. The highest package is ninety lakhs, and the average package is fourteen lakhs. Almost 85 percent get placed every year.
Infrastructure: Life at the campus is just amazing. There are many college fests, department fests, etc. Many wellness programs, webinars, and a few fun-filled activities are also organized. Along with studying, we get lots of time to learn while having fun. Faculty members encourage us to participate in different activities and learn new things.
Faculty: Well-experienced faculty members and a well-defined syllabus for the study. Two internal exams followed by the semester exam. They are very strict with attendance percentages and college timings, and they provide lots of workshops. The faculty is super supportive of your career. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1 faculty for every 200 students, I guess.

Infrastructure: The college has good facilities with Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, spacious classrooms, and a resourceful library. The hostel is decent; rooms are clean, and the mess food is fairly good. The canteen offers tasty snacks. Medical facilities are basic but sufficient, and there are options for sports and games.
Faculty: The teachers are knowledgeable and supportive, making concepts easy to understand. The curriculum is relevant and aligns well with industry needs, offering a good mix of theory and practical. Semester exams are moderately difficult, but with consistent study, they're manageable.
