MAHER Celebrates 16th Annual Convocation; 1058 Students Receive Degrees

December 24, 2022: On December 23, in the majestic auditorium of the Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute in Enathur, Kanchipuram, the Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research held its 16th Annual Convocation.

After paying tribute to the recently deceased Thiru A.N. Radhakrishnan, the Founder-Chancellor of MAHER, for one minute of silence, the Convocation Proceedings began.

The 16th Convocation was presided over by Gomathi Radhakrishnan, the Honorable Interim Chancellor of MAHER, who also gave the graduates their degrees and declared the ceremony to be open. Chief Guest Prof. Dr D. Shantharam M.D., D.Diab., Former Vice-Chancellor of The Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R. Medical University, honoured the occasion.

The Pro-Chancellor of MAHER, Jayanthi Radhakrishnan, warmly welcomed everyone to the 16th Convocation and recalled that MAHER was founded in 2004 with the vision of providing the children and youth of this great nation with affordable, relevant, contemporary, and lofty education. She went on to say that MAHER has now achieved this goal.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr R.S. Neelakandan delivered the MAHER Annual Report. He reported that the 16th Convocation saw the graduation of 1058 candidates in total, including undergrads, postgrads, and 25 PhD candidates. Speaking more specifically about the amenities offered at MAHER, the Vice Chancellor noted that this year, several crores worth of infrastructure improvements and laboratory equipment were made.

 

MAHER Becomes One Among The 100 Institutions To Organise Yoga By Ministry Of AYUSH, Govt. Of India

April 29, 2022: Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, New Delhi has chosen Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Chennai as one of the 100 organisations around the world to organise yoga programmes, workshops, and seminars in both offline and online modes in conjunction with the celebrations of 100 Days, 100 Organisations at 100 Places by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of AYUS

Leading yoga Gurus, Experts, and Scientists will present lectures on various dimensions of yoga and its utility, as well as promote the 100-day countdown campaign to the International Day of Yoga in 2022, which will be held at Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute in Kanchipuram on April 28, 2022.

Only two institutions in Tamilnadu have been chosen, one of which being the Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University) in Chennai. There are no participation fees, and all participants will get an e-certificate.

MAHER Students Finish As Runners-Up In The Overall Championship Of 2nd National Yogasana Sports Championship (Senior)

April 6, 2022: M Gayathri and C Rohini, BSc Yoga Therapy students at the Faculty of Yoga Sciences and Therapy, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Chennai, were part of the Tamil Nadu team that finished second overall in the 2nd National Yogasana Sports Championship (Senior) organised by the National Yogasana Sports Federation recognised by the Government of India, which was held recently in Ahmedabad.

They also took silver in the Artistic Group Girls category and finished fourth in the Artistic Pair Girls competition. The three-day contests drew 169 Yoga Athletes from 19 states. The PhD scholars S.Ezhilarasi and K.Geetha served as the Tamil Nadu team's Coach and Manager, respectively. J Vijayakumari, PhD Scholar, served as the Pondicherry Team Manager and Judge.

New Record In Yoga On Women's Day

March 8, 2022: S Priyadarshini from Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, MAHER's Faculty of Humanities and Science's Department of Commerce has set a new Asian record in yoga. She holds the record for sitting in a single-footed Rajakapodasana in the form of a mermaid for 60 minutes in the India Book of Records.

Nandini Sarda set the previous record on August 15, 2021, when she sat for 51 minutes and 58 seconds. Priyadarshini, a student, then set a new record by sitting in that stance for an entire 60 minutes.

On the occasion of Women's Day, the event was conducted in the Meenakshi Ammal Dental College auditorium on March 8, 2022. Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research hosted the event.

Priyadarshini, who had been learning yoga for three years under Yogaratna Saraswati. She, like her tutor, is a Yogaratna graduate. She is currently a third-year commerce student at MAHER.

Priyadarshini credited her success to the encouragement she received from her college principle, Dr V Shanthi, and Department Head, S Malarvizhi, as well as the MAHER University administration, and praised the college administration for their support and sponsorship. Priyadarshini credits her support to yoga teacher Saraswati, her father Sehgar, and her mother Anita. Finally, she expressed gratitude to Rubi Sikdar of the English Department for arranging the event.

MAHER Hosts 15th Annual Convocation

December 4, 2021: The Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research celebrated its 15th Annual Convocation at the majestic auditorium of the MAHER’s Institute in Kanchipuram. The Honorable Chancellor of MAHER, Thiru A.N. Radhakrishnan, presided over the 15th Convocation, proclaimed the ceremony open, and conferred degrees on the eager graduates. Dr SP Thyagarajan, Chancellor of the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Sciences and Higher Education for Women in Coimbatore, honoured the event as the chief guest.

Prof RS Neelakandan, the Vice-Chancellor, presented the Annual Report of MAHER. During the 15th convocation, about 988 candidates, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and 49 PhD candidates, received their degrees, according to him. The Vice-Chancellor went on to say that the infrastructural facilities and laboratory equipment at MAHER had been updated to the tune of several crores this year.

Following the presentation of candidates for degrees from various faculties, about 66 deserving applicants were presented with medals and diplomas in honour of their outstanding academic achievements. The Distinguished Alumni honours, established this year in honour of Gomathi Radhakrishnan, were given to nine of MAHER's most illustrious alumni. Jayanthi Radhakrishnan, a social activist, received an award for exemplary humanitarian service in the name of the Rector Jayanthi Radhakrishnan for her altruistic contribution during the Covid pandemic.

I am satisfied with all the teaching and staff members during the study.

Placements: Yearly our college is placing about 150 students. This college also has other courses like nursing, B.Sc post-graduation in all the departments, specialisation in pulmonology, cardiology, etc. It is a good college to study.

I am satisfied with MAHER University and I would recommend joining this college.

Placements: About 65% of students are placed in our college. About 75% of students got internships at Ramachandra Hospital. In our college, the top roles offered are MBBS and all departments under it.
