National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Aizawl was established in 2001. It is affiliated with Mizoram University and offers short-term as well as formal courses in the field of Computer Applications and IT. The institute also has an extension centre at Pukpui, Lunglei.

The short-term courses offered by NIELIT Aizawl is of 80 hours' duration. Candidates who meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria are offered admission on a first-come, first-serve basis:

NIELIT Aizawl formal courses include diploma and degree programmes of three-years' duration. The degree programmes are affiliated to Mizoram University and diploma programmes are awarded by the Mizoram State Council for Technical Education. Candidates applying to these courses are required to meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria and appear for an entrance test for final selection:

The institute also accepts lateral entry admission to MCA to candidates who have passed PG Diploma in Computer Application from any recognised university/institution with minimum 50% aggregate. There is no entrance test for lateral entry but the admission is subject to seat availability.
