Worth Pursuing BCA at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh?

Based on student reviews and feedback, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Infrastructure:
    * The infrastructure is not impressive, with buildings under construction and lack of certain facilities (e.g., IT lab).
    * However, some amenities like a well-furnished library, comfortable hostels, and Wi-Fi connectivity are present.

    Teaching Quality:
    * Some teachers are knowledgeable and helpful, while others may not be adequately prepared to teach.
    * Students reported mixed experiences with course materials being outdated and not aligned with industry requirements.

    Placements:
    * The college claims to offer decent placements, especially in areas like operations management and marketing.
    * While some students got placed, others faced difficulties finding employment.
    * the highest package offered: INR18-20,000/month; average package: INR1-2 lakh/year.

    Course Curriculum:
    * The course seems to cover essential topics, and the campus offers some exposure to industry trends and technologies.
    * However, students mentioned that the syllabus could use updates to better align with industry demands.

    Overall Verdict:
While the college shows potential, the inconsistent teaching quality, outdated course materials, and less-than-impressive infrastructure might make it challenging for students to achieve their goals. Prospective students should weigh these factors carefully before deciding whether to pursue BCA at this institution.

Recommendation: We recommend considering alternative institutions offering stronger infrastructural support, updated curricula, and more effective teaching methods to maximize career prospects.

It provides good facilities and good teachers. It is one of the best and under the top 10 colleges.
Placements: About 60-100% of students get placed in my course. There is nothing much because placement chances were 10-20% in my course. In this college, there are no placements. As freshers students can do an internship from our course with a stipend that ranges from Rs. 15,000-20,000 per month and then after 6 months, there will be an increment.
Infrastructure: Our college provides one big library, Wi-Fi, 4 computer labs, and an individual BCA department. In our college, medical rooms are available. The food quality is very good. Most importantly our canteen is very big and popular as compared to all canteens in college. Sports complex is available in our college.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, fully qualified, and knowledgeable. BCA has a good scope. In my opinion, B. Tech will be much more helpful as compared to BCA in the future. However, BCA is a very good course. Semester exams are not so difficult but it depend on students. In the BCA, the pass percentage is above 40-45%.
Other: It is helpful for the future, so I chose the BCA course. In my opinion, B. Tech will be 10% better.

Highly affordable, good amenities, and good sports facilities.
Placements: The placements of my college are average. The placement report of previous years shows that the campus has an average placement report. The college has recruitment of students by Mohali-based and Chandigarh-based local companies. The students who got placed were nearly 10 out of a batch of 85 students. The highest package was 3 lac, and the lowest package offered was 1.2 lac per annum. The company that came for recruitment was Cognizant last year. The internships are not provided by the college. Students need to take personal initiative to apply for internships on their own. The roles that were offered through college placement were offered to junior computer operators. Data typist, website developer, coding for Mohali-based MNCs. etc. are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: My course is BCA, and for this there are 4 to 5 labs for BCA students. The lab's infrastructure is good. Computers are intact with good software that is up to date. All the computers have Windows 11 installed in them. The hostel rooms are spacious; there are two to three students in a single room. The quality of food offered is poor. There are various amenities in this college of sports: library, canteen, cozycove, beauty parlor, gym, and games. The hostel has timing restrictions; otherwise, the overall experience is worth it.
Faculty: The BCA department has approximately 10-15 teachers. All the faculty are well-knowledgeable, well-mannered, and polite; all are UGC qualified and are Ph.D. holders. The course is designed in such a way that students get in-depth knowledge about the applications of computers. But this does not mean that this makes the students industry-ready; the students need to study and conceptualize and apply the practical knowledge of algorithms and coding language. The semester exams are easy to moderate; they are not difficult. The passing percentage of each subject is 33%. Generally, the questions come from previous year papers.
Other: I did choose this course because the course is highly affordable with a good ROI for the future. This gives me in-depth knowledge about the applications of computers. What I want to improve about this course is that there should be an exclusion of Punjab and English subjects. And the addition of other computer-oriented subjects that give more practical knowledge about coding and C language. There are regular events and fests held in my college, like Science Fest, Techzeal, etc. every 2-3 weeks.

    Absolutely dissatisfied with faculty .
Placements: Most of BCA students get placement but most of them didnt get any placement In terms of placement, there are only few companies which come to our college after SD. top recruiters are mostly wipro Infosys, etc. the highest package was around 5 LPA And the lowest was 2–3 LPA..
Infrastructure: I would say infrastructure is kind of below average; most of the building is under construction, and they didn't have the particular I.T. room since it was under construction, and the hostel is also under construction. This college feels like I'm in some hospital or something. All the infrastructure is complete or not that great.
Faculty: Since our college is affiliated with Panjab University, the exams are kind of perfect. The syllabus is nice, and the exam timing as well as the holidays in between exams are justified. Also, exams are not that difficult from my perspective, but you know there are a few subjects that are quite difficult, but exams are mostly easy.

    Personal review, experience and observation.
Placements: Only 2–3% of students were placed. The average package offered in the course is about 4.25 LPA to 5 LPA, approximately for freshers. Nearly 5% of students got internships in our course. Every time, different countries came for hiring.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good in the department. There are many facilities, like Wi-Fi, present on every computer in the lab. Labs are well designed and air-conditioned too. The library has a large study area. The mess food is fine. Canteen food is good.
Faculty: Some teachers are quite helpful; some may be rude but all are good at their jobs, and no one is too harsh. Practical makes the student confident for the industry. Semester exams are moderate in nature. The pass percentage is 25% as a whole.

My college review about the facilities.
Placements: 200 seats were there in our course. The package was 2 Lacs for freshers. Qspiders, Eclerx, Tech Mahindra, and Amazon are the top recruiters. 20% of students were selected for internships and passed a clear test. The role of college is to upgrade student with the latest things and new technology .
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very big and beautiful and the aura is very beautiful. The library was fully furnished and had many different sections for novels, literature, and subject books. Computer labs are fully AC and all computers are working well. The quality of the mess food was very good and hygienic.
Faculty: The teaching staff is well qualified and very helpful to the students. They provide the best facilities for students and help them in upgrade their future with the best education facilities and techniques. The midterm exams are moderate and the final exams were a little bit difficult.

My personal experience at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh in BCA.
Placements: I am in my second year, so till now, I don't have any real or personal experience about the placements. As there is no such placement cell, and as per seniors' experiences, big companies don't come to this college. So, the scope of getting placements in tech companies isn't possible at this college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, but the washrooms are not so good. There is no Wi-Fi available in the college or in the computer labs also. But there is a lot of greenery on the college campus, which is a plus point. The hostel infrastructure is too good, and the washrooms are also nice with a warm water supply during winter.
Faculty: As my course is BCA, it is one of the hardest courses. Still, there is no practical experience as teachers expect us to cram answers. They don't guide us properly. They don't even take proper classes. Exams are conducted in a proper way, but the faculty for the BCA course isn't appropriate.
