Review of School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University.
Placements: We are in the batch that is following the 2019 regulations, and only 80 seats are available for each academic year. Earlier, it had 120 seats. It is the top government college. All students easily get internships from our college. Architecture students can work as architects, project managers, product designers, furniture designers, 3D visualisers, architectural photographers, and so on.
Infrastructure: The college has seven smart labs and 10 design studios for the architecture department. There is also a student interactive club space and two courtyards. One is for sports and games, and the other is for events and cultural activities. The hostel is at the next compound in the department. It is very spacious and affordable. It is newly built. The food is average. Laundry services are available for Rs. 50 per load.
Faculty: Faculty members are knowledgeable. They help us even after college hours. The teaching quality is not that interesting sometimes. The curriculum is relevant but still needs more practical aspects and information about new technologies. Semester exams are easy. All questions are based on what was taken during classes. There were no questions that were not on the syllabus. Design is the core subject of architecture and needs good communication skills and creativity. If one fails in design, he or she gets a year back.
Other: I have an interest in architecture. This is one of the most difficult and expensive courses in the world. Architecture is stressful because of more late-night work, re-dos, and hectic submission deadlines. Events and fests are less frequent compared to other departments.

Campus life in SAP, hostel and infrastructure.
Placements: Architecture usually don't have campus interview and placements are based on undergraduate portfolios. Total intake per year is 70 seats. And the all seats are based on counselling. 1st semester is full of basic designs. The course becomes challenging in higher semester. In 8th semester, student should do internship training in architectural firm.
Infrastructure: Infracture in college and hostel are satiable. Hostel and mess is new for SAP campus. Hostel rooms and environment is decent and neat. But hostel don't have Wi-Fi facility yet. Water and mess facilities are good. Also canteen is nearby if needed. All general amenities are nearby.
Faculty: Course curriculum and syllabus changes every 4 years and new courses and elective course are introduced. Grading is based Continued assessment. The minimum pass percentage is 50 percent. Course is split into studio, theory cum studio and theory courses. Studio courses have final viva and theory courses have written examination.
Other: Architecture course is fascinating and challenging at the same time. It is best learnt from day to day and life experiences. Campus should be connected to various departments through fest and events.

Our college has a very good campus life and is well known.
Placements: There are no placements in the architecture course. Students who graduate from college get job opportunities in good and well-known firms in India as well as abroad. Many of them went for higher studies as well. Many firms around India prefer graduates from this college.
Infrastructure: Our classes are good. We cannot expect high levels of comfort. Lab facilities are there, which are decent. The library has a good collection of books. It has one of the largest collections of architectural books and journals. The hostel is very comfortable, and it's very near the college.
Faculty: The teaching quality is very good. Our teachers have a lot of experience in architectural education. They are very helpful to students. The course curriculum is fit for the field. Only a few subjects may be a bit difficult for students. Semester exams are moderately difficult.

It is a great college to learn and gain exposure to be a successful architect after graduating.
Placements: For the architecture course, there are no placements or recruitments as the course is not designed in that way. Students apply for firms and get selected through their exposure and knowledge, and it completely depends on students' efforts. Through this, they learn to become independent even before graduating, which is a positive element in this course. Firms give higher preference to our college students as this college is one of the top 5 institutions in India.
Infrastructure: As it is an architectural institution, the campus is well-designed. The spatial arrangement of blocks with the proper inclusion of interactive and transitional spaces is made in a great manner. Various facilities such as media labs, smart classrooms, libraries with workspace, etc., are available and put to use in an effective way. The hostel has individual balconies which are attached to rooms for privacy. Rooms are pretty spacious, and they include drafting tables for students.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are majorly former students of this institution that hold a master's degree in architecture. All of them are highly experienced in this field. Since this course is more of a hands-on experience, faculty members guide students in visiting sites, analysing the data collected and forming the whole idea of designing a space. The course syllabus is changed every 2 years, which helps in the up-gradation of knowledge. For the semester exams, theory subjects are pretty easy to study and score. The main focus is on the practical aspect, i.e., architectural design.
Other: Though in the practical aspect, it is male-dominated. This course has a high scope of women empowerment as it is well suited for girls. This course is completely different from other generic engineering courses, where students are forced to study theory subjects without much practical knowledge. Architecture provides a lot of hands-on experience. Since the submissions and deadlines are sometimes hectic, students do not engage much in various cultural fests and events. So, I wish to implement free hours exclusively for participation in extracurricular activities.

Moderate infrastructure and inexperinced faculty intake.
Placements: There are no placement opportunities conducted in the college for the students. The course offers one year internship program in the fourth year of the course. It is changed to six months, on the eighth semester, from the year 2018-19. The students get an internship all over India and even abroad. Since the college is famous and reputed, the architects show interest in our students. The students take up internships with their portfolios mostly and give an interview if the office insists. The stipend offered for the students vary from office to office. Offices who work for a social cause pay low or sometimes nothing. The stipend for other offices ranges from Rs. 2000 - Rs. 7000.
Infrastructure: The campus is equipped with a very good library, which contains a lot of books collected over 60 years. The computer labs are functional during the working hours. The classrooms are being tough to allocate by the management as the students intake is increased over years. The campus is maintained well. There are no reprography and workshop facilities inside the campus, for which the students have to depend on the university campus. The hostel facilities are available in about 300m from the campus, inside the university. The hostel for the boys is in high demand as there are limited rooms for the increased intake of the students every year. The hostel has uninterrupted water and electricity supply, with regular maintenance of the hostel premises. Both the canteen food and the hostel food are of good quality. The canteen operates at a subsidised cost. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled where the students can gain access to their registered laptop devices till their course completion. The campus has a courtyard, and a student-operated room for all sports, extracurricular and other informal activities. The campus is a part of the university campus that offers a common ground with access to all sports, gym (AC and non AC), swimming pool, etc. There is a free medical care centre for all the students operated till evenings every day.
Faculty: The faculty members are knowledgeable and guide us through our whole program. There is no constant strict prescription of all the works to be done as the students are allowed to experiment with their design and come up with the ideas of their own. There are a lot of new faculty members recruited in the recent years who lack experience. Most of them being fresher for the teaching profession. Teaching happens methodically, and the usage of technology in the learning process is much limited. Frequent visits to the various practices help the students gain practical knowledge.
Other: There is a new block of studios and lecture halls with an auditorium yet to be fully functional, which will relieve the demand for adequate classrooms. The new block is expected to solve the inadequate restrooms for the girl students of the campus. The campus has a good parking facility.

Join the most prestigious college of Tamil Nadu.
Placements: Architecture course doesn't have any corporate in-campus placements, so it is up to us.
Most of the students who graduate get placed after sending in their portfolio to their desired firms.
The salary ranges from rupees 10000 to 20000 as a fresher for the position of Junior Architect.
Actually, internships are compulsory here and it's a part of the syllabus, so 100 percent of the pupils undergo internships all over India.
Infrastructure: This college has a 24/7 Wi-Fi facility, a computer lab, a material museum, laser cutting machine, conference rooms, multipurpose hall, coffee club, and table tennis board.
Regarding the hostel, it is separate for both men and women and architecture students are allowed to stay in AC Technology's hostel premises.
Faculty: Faculty members that are employed here come from various parts of the course fields and most of them hold PhD and Master's degrees.
Most of them are well-qualified personnel to teach and train students.
The course curriculum is lenient and gives exposure to various forms of studies like arts, photography and mainly architecture styles.
Other: It is situated inside Anna University campus, near Alagappa Chettiar Technology campus and Anna University is situated near IIT, Madras and Governor's palace.
It has a rich microclimatic factor. Trees which minimise the heat and humidity that exists in the other parts of the city where the temperature is high most of the times.
So, it is a good place for hostels too.
