SSIMS is a great option for MBBS course.
Placements: Since it is MBBS, we get a 1 full year of internship in our own hospital and after that, there are no campus placements like engineering colleges. We get the degree from the university and we have to apply for a residency in our hospital or any other hospital requiring junior residents. The internship consists of rotations in various departments of the hospital. There is a stipend offered of Rs.12260 as of now which will increase as per government guidelines.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good including the hospital with new machines and technology with almost all the facilities available. The Wi-Fi is present in the library and in the hostel. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors and air-conditioning. The library has books which are of good quality and content but the number of books should be increased. There is a digital library also. Overall, the college and hospital are good. The hostel is an issue because first, the fee is very high. The food quality is not good. The room provides you with only a room cooler and geyser and for an air-conditioner, you have to pay an extra amount. There is no provision for sports as of now by the college. However, there is a swimming pool and a badminton court which have been privatised and we have to pay in order to play.
Faculty: Faculty members are the only good in the college including all the first, second, and final professionals. The teachers are quite knowledgeable and are very good practitioners in the hospital. The teaching quality is also good. The course curriculum is relevant and is the same as per medical council of India guidelines, and therefore makes budding doctors. There are no semester exams. There are term exams and then pre-university exams by the college and the university exams which are annual exams conducted by AYUSH University. The exams are quite good and quality but they are somehow difficult. The pass percentage is 50% in both theory and practical individually.
Other: I chose this course because I always wanted to be a doctor. The only regret that I have is that our college does not a have social life. There are no events on the medical campus and no fests. On the pretext of religious festivities, we have to carry a fest but that's not how things are done. As of now, no scholarship is given by the college. However, the Chhattisgarh government provides scholarships to reservation students.
