Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2024
Offered by Sri Sri Jagannath Mohavidyalay, Rajnagar
    4.4
    4Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Good B.Com foundation with good faculty members and affordable fees, but limited infrastructure.
Placements: Studying at Sri Jagannath Mahavidyalaya was a transformative experience. Around 60%-70% of students in my batch secured placements, with salary packages ranging from 3 LPA to 8 LPA. Top recruiters included HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and TCS. About 20% of students gained internships with companies like ICICI Prudential and SBI Life Insurance, focusing on finance and practical market exposure. Common roles offered are junior accountant, audit assistant, and customer relationship manager. This college is an excellent choice for students who want to excel in commerce and professional development.
Infrastructure: The college provides essential facilities for B.Com students. Classrooms are well-ventilated with adequate seating, though lacking modern tools like projectors. Library is good, with decent collection of books and study materials relevant to commerce, though digital resources are limited. Wi-Fi is available in key areas like the library and administrative blocks, but connectivity could be better. Basic computer labs are available for practical accounting and finance exercises. College does not offer hostel accommodation. Students usually arrange private rentals nearby. No dedicated mess facility is available on campus. Students rely on nearby eateries or self-catering options. A basic first-aid room is available, with a nearby clinic for emergencies. Facilities for cricket, volleyball, and badminton are available, but advanced equipment and coaching are limited. While college meets the basic needs for academics, students seek additional amenities like hostels or mess services need to make independent arrangements.
Faculty: Faculty members were highly qualified and knowledgeable in their respective fields. They were approachable and supportive, always ready to assist students with doubts and career guidance. Teaching quality was solid, with a focus on both theoretical knowledge and practical applications. However, more interactive and technology-driven teaching methods could further enhance learning. B.Com curriculum was well-designed and aligned with industry requirements. It covered fundamental subjects like accounting, taxation, and finance, which was essential for commerce students. While it provides a strong foundation, incorporating more hands-on training, case studies, and workshops would better prepare students for real-world challenges. Semester exams were moderately challenging, emphasizing conceptual clarity and application. Regular attendance and consistent preparation made it manageable for most students. Approximately 85%-90% of students passed each semester, reflecting the reasonable difficult level and the faculty's guidance. College offers a good academic environment with relevant courses and supportive teachers, helping students build a solid foundation for their careers.
Other: I completed my B.Com from Sri Sri Jagannath Mahavidyalaya, Rajnagar, and graduated with a solid foundation in commerce. Course provides a good balance between theory and practical knowledge, focusing on core subjects like accounting, economics, taxation, and business law. I chose B.Com course because I had a keen interest in finance, accounting, and business. This course offered me the opportunity to explore various aspects of commerce while building a strong base for future career opportunities in accounting, finance, and business management. The course covered essential subjects that are directly applicable to the finance and business sectors. Teachers were approachable and always willing to help with academic and career guidance. Course provides a good theoretical foundation and some exposure to practical aspects of commerce, such as internships and workshops. The inclusion of more digital tools, case studies, and real-time projects would make course more industry-oriented. While we had some industry exposure, more guest lectures from professionals could enrich the learning experience. More hands-on learning and real-world application of concepts could better prepare students for the workplace. Our college hosts annual fests, sports events, and cultural programs, which provide a great platform for students to showcase their talents. However, the scale of events could be bigger and more organized. Campus has a friendly and diverse crowd, with a good mix of students engaged in academics and extracurriculars. College is well-connected by public transport, making it accessible for students from nearby areas. College is located in a peaceful area with greenery, offering a conducive environment for studying. There are scholarships available for deserving students, though the process could be more streamlined and transparent. College encourages participation in various clubs and societies, although the options could be expanded for more student engagement. B.Com course at Sri Sri Jagannath Mahavidyalaya, Rajnagar, offers a solid academic foundation with ample growth opportunities. While there are areas for improvement, the overall environment fosters learning, personal development, and career readiness.
