    SVPCET BTech Curriculum 2025

    Q&A Icon
    Commonly asked questions
    On Curriculum

Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for B.E. / B.Tech at St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology (SVPCET)?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

    Course Curriculum

    * The course curriculum at SVPCET follows the prescriptions of Nagpur University, which is considered outdated and not industry-relevant by some students.
    * Some students feel that the curriculum needs to be improved and made more relevant to industry requirements.
    * While some faculty members try to apply industry-oriented knowledge and encourage students to focus on MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), the overall curriculum structure remains largely unchanged.
    * The course curriculum covers both theoretical and practical aspects, with an emphasis on developing practical skills.
    * Some students find the curriculum challenging, especially when it comes to semiconductor devices, microcontrollers, and embedded systems.
    * Others appreciate the balanced mix of theory and practice, saying it helps them grasp complex concepts better.
    * The college places importance on regular assessments, with semester exams and internal evaluations playing a significant role in determining grades.

Overall, while the course curriculum may not be entirely modernized, students seem to appreciate the emphasis on practical skills and the attempt to bridge the gap between academia and industry. However, there is scope for improvement, particularly in terms of relevance to industry requirements.

Please note that these findings are based on the limited number of reviews provided and may not represent the full range of opinions on the course curriculum.

    Pallotti College Review.
Placements: The placement rate is good, but students are being placed at low LPA. The CDC cell of our college is making efforts, so let's see what happens in the next few years. A variety of companies come for campus placements, but again, while the placement rate is okay, the packages are low.
Infrastructure: The college has a full-fledged Wi-Fi connection, with classrooms and labs available. The library is also good, but generally, they do not allow us in during lecture timings. The hostel is average; in terms of cleanliness, it is good, but the food is not that great, and the time allotted for hostel stays is also limited.
Faculty: The faculty is supportive and always ready to help with any project. They assist us in every aspect. The semester exams are easy; you can score well even after just one day of studying, as I do. Overall, the exams are manageable, and the curriculum is good.
Other: I chose this college because of its location; I didn't want much else. Overall, the college is average.

The faculty and the infrastructure are good.
Placements: The placement was good in previous years, but this year the placement was not good, and the package range is also between 2 and 6 lacs. The companies that are coming are also small or startups, and the opportunities were also less; not even 50 students got selected this year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, but the food in the hostel and canteen is very bad. You eat the food daily because the quality of the material used is not good, and the food quality is poor. The library is also good; you can get all the latest books there.
Faculty: The college faculty is good. The studying method is also good, and they are well-qualified and have very high knowledge in their field. The curriculum is good, and they prepare people for the placement properly. The semester exam is not hard if you attend the lectures properly.
Other: I decided to choose these courses because of the guidance of my brother, who has been working in the industry for a long time.

Strict college with a no-go hostel.
Placements: Honestly speaking, the branch of Artificial Intelligence is relatively new here, so there is no definite answer as to how high the placement for the course is. But if I have to answer, the highest package offered for B.Tech is 23 LPA, the lowest is 1.5 LPA, and the average is 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: The hostel blocks are separate as per male and female students, and both have different eating spaces and other facilities, except the playground and indoor sports room. Male students are not allowed in the female students' block, and there is a watchman present all the time. The food given is breakfast in the morning, lunch, and dinner at night. Three times a week there is non-veg available, but the quality of food is not that great. You can't cook your own food, and if you want to install a cooker or fan, you can do so, but you will have to pay the bill for it. Yearly fee of the hostel is between 60,000-70,000.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, even if they are strict. They teach all the syllabus thoroughly and take revisions before exams, and are even available for lectures if students have any doubts. The first year is the same for all branches, but there is a subject called 'Professional Foundation' which is different but branch-related. Exams are all based on what is taught in the classes. You can easily pass if you just study PYQ and read it thoroughly, but to score you have to study hard.
Other: There aren't many fests and events, college life is too strict. Much like school, it is even boring.

The best academic college in Nagpur.
Placements: 60 to 70 percent of students get placed in our college. The average package offered is 3.5 LPA. College provides us with various opportunities and helps us grow our skills so that we can get placed in good companies. Almost all students get internships at our college.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facilities are available all the time, classrooms are excellent, libraries are available all the time, and you can borrow books from the library to make notes and learn new subjects. Hostel facilities are good. Three-time meals are provided of good quality.
Faculty: This college is famous for its academics because they ensure that the curriculum is designed well and they have the best professors to teach students. Semester exams are taken at the end, and you can easily score well if you follow and listen to your teachers in college.
Other: I chose the course because this is a trending branch, and you've got the best teachers here and the best academics at the college. Events in college are awesome, and you get a good crowd here.

    Svpcet where stars shine .
Placements: Over the past 2 to 3 years, placements have been exceptional with an average of 7 Lacs. However, due to increasing demand, more and more individuals have been laid off. Although the decrease has not been steady, we have had only a few placements this year. We are hopeful that by the end of 2024, we will once again have a substantial number of companies reaching out to us.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average, with room for improvement in the sports facilities, but there are plans for enhancement in the near future. The hostel, on the other hand, offers good amenities including a basketball court and proper sanitation. Overall, it is more than satisfactory.
Faculty: The teachers and faculty members are extremely supportive, as the majority of them have excelled in their educational qualifications and possess a wealth of knowledge in their respective fields. Their expertise ranges from practical experience to theoretical understanding, which is conveyed flawlessly to the students.
Other: We are hosting the seventh largest event, Technex, which features numerous activities including cultural events that offer a thrilling experience through sports and dance. My course is excellent and offers vast opportunities for the future.

Great infrastructure and placements, but faculty and course structure need improvement.
Placements: In the 2023 batch at St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur, around 49.52% of students were placed, with the highest salary package being approximately INR 10 LPA, while the average was around INR 3.25 LPA. Top recruiters included Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and L&T Infotech, primarily for IT and Computer Science students. Some students also secured internships, although specific figures are not available.
Infrastructure: St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology (SVPCET) in Nagpur offers excellent infrastructure for students, including well-equipped labs, Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, and a central library. The college has on-campus hostels for boys and girls with single, double, and triple occupancy rooms, Wi-Fi, sports facilities, and separate messes for vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. Medical services are available with a doctor on call, and students enjoy recreational activities like sports and a gymnasium, all within a serene, green campus.
Faculty: The faculty is generally regarded as qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable, although some students have pointed out that certain teachers may not communicate effectively in English. The overall teaching quality is rated decently, with an emphasis on core subjects during the first year to build a strong foundation. However, some students find the pace of teaching challenging to keep up with. The curriculum is seen as relevant, covering key industry-related subjects like programming, databases, and more, which help students become job-ready, particularly in fields like Computer Engineering.
Other: The campus is enhanced by modern infrastructure and a variety of student activities. It hosts several annual technical and cultural events like Technex and INSIGHT, which offer students opportunities to participate in competitions ranging from robotics to dance. Extracurricular activities are supported by student-run clubs and societies such as ISHRAE and SAE, which focus on areas like car design and other engineering innovations.
