Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for BDS students at Swami Devi Dyal Group of Professional Institutions?

    A:
    {Source: BDS students & alumni}

Success Rate of Placement Cell for BDS Students

    * No placement cell: According to several students and alumni, there is no placement cell specifically dedicated to BDS students at Swami Devi Dyal Group of Professional Institutions. Instead, students are encouraged to start their own private clinics or work in other clinics through visiting opportunities.
    * Average Package: Although there is no placement cell, some students mentioned receiving an average package of around INR2.5 Lacs to INR4 lakhs. This indicates that while the institution may not have a formal placement program, some students still manage to secure decent salaries after graduation.
    * Limited Job Opportunities: Unfortunately, the lack of a dedicated placement cell means that BDS students may face limited job opportunities compared to those with similar programs at institutions that have established placement cells.

Overall, while the institute has a strong focus on technical skills and patient care, its lack of a dedicated placement cell may limit the career prospects of BDS students seeking employment outside of starting their own clinics or working in existing practices.

    Good faculty and staff present.
Placements: It offers many professional courses, including BDS and MS. BDS is a 5-year course, whereas MS is a 3-year course. It also provides internships in both BDS and MS. Highly qualified staff is present. Internships are provided in all departments to train the students in every specialization.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms with projectors, and a library stocked with all the books related to the courses are available. There is a snack shop for students, as well as juice corners. Additionally, there is a canteen that offers every type of cuisine at reasonable prices. The food in the mess and canteen is excellent.
Faculty: The faculty comprises highly specialized members who are experts in their respective fields. Students can work on patients only under the supervision of MS and faculty members during the four-year period. Each department has one HOD along with teaching staff, a reader, and an assistant.
Other: Recently, a fest called SRIJAN - the winter carnival, was organized. It spanned three days with live performances by celebrities, alongside the conduct of various sports events.

Average food and campus life .
Placements: This course does not offer placements across India. It focuses on technical skills, but unfortunately, there is no placement cell. However, you have the option to either open your own clinic or work in other clinics through visits, both of which are viable choices.
Infrastructure: Hostels and classrooms lack Wi-Fi connectivity, but the library offers access to it. In order to stay connected, a reliable data plan is essential as Wi-Fi is not available. The quality of the mess food is satisfactory, while the hygiene level is average. Unfortunately, popular fast-food chains like McDonald's or Burger King are not present on campus, leaving the canteen as the sole dining option.
Faculty: The majority of teachers possess the necessary qualifications and knowledge to be helpful. This course is highly relevant to the curriculum, ensuring that you are prepared for the job market if you have a genuine desire to learn. Given its technical nature, learning is the sole solution for success in this course, which is undeniably challenging. Additionally, the completion of a thesis is required.
Other: MS in this college has most expensive fee structure in comparison with other part of countries. The best thing about this course is specialisation in dentistry which make you perfect.

Swami Devi Dayal Dental College and Hospital.
Placements: The faculty comprises highly qualified teachers, ensuring a very good academic environment. The campus is clean and green, and regular tests are conducted. Exams are held annually with utmost dedication and strictness. The highest average package offered upon course completion ranges from 5 to 8 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is commendable, characterized by a triangular building shape. The departmental library houses all dentistry books, and both AC and non-AC rooms are available in our hostel, along with Wi-Fi facilities. Quality food is provided in the mess, and there is a canteen for additional convenience.
Faculty: All teachers are supportive, experienced, and highly qualified. The teaching quality is excellent, with a serious commitment to all classes for every student. The Bachelor of Dental Surgery course is moderately challenging, and semester exams are notably tough.

Nice college with good study environment and college life. Supporting and knowledgeable staff.
Placements: The placement doesn't work in the dental department. I am currently from the 2019 batch and undergoing a one-year rotatory internship in the same institute. This campus also provides various courses such as B.Tech, law, pharmacy, management, and nursing. Each course has a different building.
Infrastructure: Nice hostel accommodating 500+ students. I stayed there for 4 years. It offers both AC and non-AC rooms. The hostel facilities cater to both boys and girls, with separate mess halls and rooms. Cleaners are available for maintaining cleanliness in the hostels and surrounding areas.
Faculty: The staff, helpful and highly qualified, ensures individual attention is given to each student for their overall enhancement. University exams occur once a year, and they are easily cleared with correct preparation. The passing percentage ranges between 90-95% each year.
Other: 2019 batch. Various sports events take place. Sport court available.

Where students meet their real life.
Placements: BDS is a professional undergraduate course in dentistry pursued by students aspiring to become dentists. The course duration is 4 years, and candidates aiming to advance their careers in healthcare and dental surgery can enroll. The BDS curriculum is regulated by DCI.
Infrastructure: The hostel is absolutely superb and filled with additional knowledge. The facilities are cleaned daily, the rooms are spacious, and air-conditioned. The hostel locks regularly at 7 pm at night. There is a secured gate at the entrance, which gives students a feeling of added security.
Faculty: Creative assignments, regular tests with viva, and group discussions, along with great group projects, are part of the curriculum. The teachers, known for their friendly nature and willingness to help, make the learning process enjoyable. However, given the challenging nature of the subject, exam periods become stressful due to the extensive study requirements.
Other: I opted for this course because I want to become a doctor and help people smile.

    SDDGPI is a good college.
Placements: The percentage of students placed at our college is between 60-70%. The highest package is approximately 15 Lacs per annum. Almost 100% of students secured internships in our BDS (Bachelors of Dental Surgery) course. Placements are provided to students with a good package amount.
Infrastructure: All the facilities and infrastructure available for us in our Swami Devi Dyal Group of Professional Institutions College (SDDGPI) are commendable. Hostel rooms are nearby, clean, and surrounded by abundant greenery within our hostel campus, creating a very peaceful environment.
Faculty: Yes, the faculty members are greatly grateful and have a very friendly nature towards their students. However, our course curriculum isn't very relevant to the students and doesn't prepare them for the industry. Our exams are held annually, not semester-wise, and the percentage is good.
Other: The environment at our college is excellent. The winter carnival, Srijan, was held in our college this year, 2023, and we enjoyed it a lot. The fest was fantastic.

    A:
    {Source: BDS students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's what stands out:

    Pros:

    * Excellent Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure, including well-equipped laboratories, smart classrooms, and a vast library.

    * Internship Opportunities: The college provides mandatory paid internships, giving students hands-on experience in the field.

    Cons:

    * Limited Job Prospects: The college doesn't have a strong placement record, especially for BDS graduates.
    * No Direct Placement Offerings: Unlike other courses, BDS doesn't have direct placement offerings, relying instead on internships and self-initiated efforts.
