M.A. in Social Work (Rural Development) - Batch of 2025
4.8

The best college for a career in Rural Development.
Placements: College claims 100 percent placements. Our senior batch placed with a 90 percent placement rate. Top recruiting companies are BAIF, Kudumbashree, Gujarat Livelihood Mission, and Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihood Mission, etc. The top roles offered are Project Manager and Young Professionals at district and block levels.
Infrastructure: The hostel is very well-equipped. Some cleanliness issues still persist, but overall it's the best. The library is also nice and has a really good collection of books. The mess is also decent; you will get breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner. Classrooms are the best part of the campus.
Faculty: Excellent college faculty with great support. The best-qualified teachers across the country. Also, some teachers are biased, but otherwise, the quality of teachers is pretty much good. The course curriculum is also updated and helpful in the placement process. The semester exams' difficulty level is moderate to difficult.

Beautiful college with beautiful minds.
Placements: Placement percentage is 100%. The highest package is 9 Lacs per annum. Top recruiters of the college are Rajasthan Jeevika, Odisha Livelihood Mission, United Way Bangalore, Deshpande Foundation, BAIF, Lets Endorse, Ajim Premji Foundation and many more.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good. You will get free Wi-Fi in the hostel and in the campus. There is a library, with many books. Hostel faculties are too good, with clean rooms, hot water facilities and RO drinking water facilities. You can play any sports in this campus.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and very knowledgeable. The course is combined with theoretical and practical knowledge. Course curriculum is very relevant. Semester exams are not too difficult.
Other: Campus is very beautiful and you will enjoy the campus.

M.A. (Sustainable Livelihoods, Natural Resources Governance) - Batch of 2021
4.4

It is a good institution for sustainable development and research.
Placements: I am studying Master of Science in sustainable livelihood and natural resource governance in this institution. My subject is research-oriented. So we have few chances to get a job from the campus. Other than this department, other departments have the opportunities to get average salary jobs.
Infrastructure: This institution is Tata's construction. So the infrastructure is good. This institution is promoting sustainable, eco-friendly, rural development through teaching, research and training. They have the Wi-Fi facility with good speed. There are research-oriented all types of equipment in labs.
Faculty: Tata appoints highly qualified teachers in this institution to promote sustainable development. They promote gender equality and the application of appropriate technology and social sciences, where teachers are helpful in this regards. They often organise group work, seminars and lectures.

A campus with appropriacity.
Placements: The placement of the campus is quite good. It's been only 1 year for me in the campus and this year, it was quite good for certain courses like WASH and RD. Overall, it is appropriate and also for our course that is for UG, it's not available but for social work students, they get placements once they complete their UG course.
Infrastructure: The campus is located on a hilly area surrounded by greenery everywhere. The nature-loving students really enjoy living on the campus. As far as infrastructure is a concern, it's quite good and we get proper facilities. There are some challenges in front of the students to deal with like sometimes they have water related problems etc but I think overall it's quite good because we are studying social sciences that too in rural areas. We should be in the habit of dealing with these issues in order to understand the grassroot level of problems.
Faculty: The faculty members are quite extraordinary and knowledgeable with a lot of experience in the field works. But the number of professors are limited that too because of the rural campus as they prefer to stay in the cities in order to provide good schoolings to their children.

B.A. in Social Sciences - Batch of 2017

Although good, Tuljapur campus of TISS needs more attention in terms of faculty and exposure.
Placements: Students are eligible for placements only if theY complete their BA-MA ( 5 years) and cannot apply for placements after 3 years of BA. The 3 year BA is an academic course and the college gives an exit option to students who wish to pursue their masters from another college or campus. On successful completion of 3 years, you are awarded a B.A. degree but you not eligible for placements. Those who continue for 5 years are eligible for placements which are conducted by the CGPC in the college. Organisations from the private as well as government sector come for recruiting students. In the past few years, Care India, HCL foundation and CSR wings of prominent companies have picked up students. Governmental organisations like state rural health missions come for placements. A few micro-credit companies have also come for placements (Ujjivan) offering the highest packages of up to 7.5 LPA. Average placements are around 4 LPA while lowest are as low as 2 LPA. In terms of internships, it is COMPULSORY for students to do internships and all students end up doing internships at prominent places. By the end of the course, you can be rest assured to have completed at least 4-5 good internships.
Infrastructure: The campus is beautiful, full of greenery and peace. WiFi was not good previously but has been upgraded and works fine now. All other facilities are at par. There is a huge ground along with other facilities like gymnasium, badminton courts and basketball court. Sports tournaments happen all round the year and it is very lively on the campus. Classrooms are spacious and have all necessary technical equipment like projectors and speakers. Library is also very good. One can find all relevant books in the library and in the case that one needs a few books that arent present, one can request for the same. The librarian is kind enough to get as many books as possible. The library is linked with other TISS libraries which make it easy to share digital resources across campuses. One can access library material online from outside campus as well. Hostels have become far better than they were a couple of years ago, most boys are accommodated in the new boys' hostel which has 4 boys sharing a room, although space isn't too much a problem. It is regularly cleaned and washrooms are good as well.
Faculty: The faculty is the only issue that the college faces. As the campus is not situated in a prominent city, it is difficult for the authorities to attract good faculty to permanently teach in college. Yet the college has a few great teachers who take great efforts to make sure they help the students. Subjects like sociology and economics have good independent faculty and students are generally happy with the teachers. A few specific subjects are taught by guest teachers which become a problem as there is no regular interaction required for those subjects. More permanent faculty is urgently needed on the campus. Classroom teaching is generally followed by assignments which are very valuable in imparting proper training. The assessment is very good and makes sure that all students actively contribute - includes group work, individual critical thinking and practical projects. Students to faculty ratio is around 20:1. The curriculum, according to me is very good at least when it comes to the Bachelor's course. Although a few irrelevant subjects and technical errors are problematic, overall the course is very good in shaping future leaders and human service professionals. The course has compulsory field work and internships which make the course wholesome - it makes practical learning a part of the course requirements. Students who fail to complete these requirements do not get the degree.

Other: If you have a special urge to do something for the society or the country, then this college will be the best decision of your life. The practical exposure that TISS provides, no other college could. It changes your thought process in a better direction and polishes your qualities. The college is located in a place where there is a forest on one side and a dam on another. The course possesses a highly qualified faculty team and field staff, and occasional guest lectures and field visits are organised here.
