TCG CREST Course Admission 2024: Eligibility, Selection, Application

• All candidates must qualify in either a national-level test conducted by a national body or a national-level test conducted by TCG CREST.
• The selection process includes an interview.

Eligibility for the CQuERE (Center for Quantum Sciences and Technologies) PhD Programme at TCG Crest requires candidates to have an M.Sc in Physics or Chemistry, preferably with a focus on Physical Chemistry, or an ME/MTech in Engineering Physics or related fields. Additionally, candidates with an MS in Computer Science are eligible, with a preference for those who have completed relevant courses in MSc level Quantum Mechanics. All applicants must have qualified in national-level tests such as NET, INSPIRE, JEST, GATE, CSIR, DST, DBT, or equivalent examinations in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or Computer Science. These qualifications are necessary to apply for the programme.

Eligibility for the RISE PhD programme at TCG Crest requires highly motivated candidates with either an MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field, or an ME/MTech in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related areas of Material Science. Preference is given to candidates who have already qualified in national-level tests such as NET, INSPIRE, JEST, GATE, DST, DBT, RGNF, or other exams conducted by national-level bodies.

TCG Crest Kolkata provides PhD programmes under four departments namely Rise PhD programme, IAI PhD in Engineering, IAI PhD in Science, CQuERE PhD programme. There programmes focus on Sustainable energy and clean fuels, AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) and Cryptology and Quantum Sciences and Technologies.

Yes, TCG CREST has its own entrance exam, which is referred to as the "TCG CREST written qualifying test." This test is a part of the admission process for candidates who fall under Channel 3. Candidates who have not qualified for any national-level test must qualify in the TCG CREST written test to be shortlisted for an interview. Admission to the PhD programme at TCG CREST is not granted without either a National level fellowship or an Institutional fellowship of TCG CREST, and this written test is one of the pathways to eligibility for the programme.

TCG Crest extends a helping hand to its Ph.D. candidates through a robust institute fellowship programme that spans up to five years. Furthermore, for those fortunate scholars, there's also the possibility of receiving assistance for both domestic and international travel, contingent upon approval.
