Delhi School of Communication Hosts Its Second Annual E-Convocation 2021
July 19, 2021: The Second Annual e-Convocation for the 25th batch of Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Communication (PGDPC 25) was held at the DSC -The Delhi School of Communication, Saket. Babita Baruah, Managing Partner, GTB Global Team Blue, was the Chief Guest, while Anshu Patni Singhi, Founder, CHNO Media, was the Guest of Honour. Professor Ramola Kumar, the Dean, publicly declared the end of the course for the institute's 25th cohort. As they entered into the office, defining the new normal, all best wishes were conveyed to the groups.
DSC has maintained its reputation of placing graduates in top marketing, public relations, and advertising firms such as Group M, Omnicom Media Group, Dentsu X, MSL, DDB Mudra, Media Mantra, Grey Cells, FCB, Grapes Digital, Hakuhodo, Rep India, The Communication Council, and The Free Press Journal.
Babita Baruah stated that today's Gen Z is spontaneous, and work cultures are being re-imagined to prepare for an environment that continues to encourage this attitude. She shared some advice on how ‘informed spontaneity’ might help us balance out the edges, explaining that spontaneity is also a duty. ‘Informed spontaneity starts with a clear goal setting," she said. “A SWOT analysis of your own. Identifying reliable sources of information and opinion. Operating on a large playing field with flexible and fluid boundaries that allow for complete shifts if needed. It also necessitates self-reflection. Informed spontaneity stimulates bold thinking and action, which is a prerequisite today in a professional and commercial world that is changing and evolving at the speed of light. It is critical to comprehend these shifts, as well as the new career and business opportunities and competencies that come with them.”, she continued. She underlined that the values of honesty, kindness, and empathy are future drivers, noting that our journeys would be beneficial if we stick to a solid value system.
Anshu Patni Singhi, who was motivating the students, recalled her convocation nearly 17 years ago, when she thought she was ready to take on the world. “Your career is never what you plan – it's the trade-offs you make for yourself between comfort and danger, between money and looking beyond money, and a variety of other factors. And that was the train I boarded - the train of CHOICES that would be provided to me for the rest of my life, as well as the EXPERIMENTS I would undertake as a result of those choices.” Her career path also had its ups and downs, as she later ventured into entrepreneurship, and she offered this piece of advice: "On this train, however, there is one thing that will become your most valuable asset - your fellow passengers or the people you meet. Make sure you value and learn from them, as well as providing value to them, and you'll find that these folks may occasionally come to help you push the train. So, when you get on this train, please select what you enjoy, what offers you progress over what is fashionable!”, she continued
The event was held virtually due to the continuing pandemic. The students were given their PGDPC 25 programme certificates, and it was time to say their goodbyes. The PGDPC programme at DSC is a two-year programme that provides students with formal education and professional training in all aspects of mass communication, including Digital Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Film Marketing, Entertainment, Branding, Market Research, and Event Management.
