DY Patil University Launches A New World-Class Business School

September 1, 2021: DY Patil University, a 38-year-old recognised designated university, has begun its MBA Programme today in its Nerul Campus. Vijay Patil School of Management is the name of the new business school (VPSM). VPSM has a cutting-edge campus in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. It has Harvard-style technology-driven classrooms, a Learning Resource Center, discussion rooms, conference rooms, faculty offices, and a centrally air-conditioned, wi-fi-enabled campus with multi-cuisine cafeterias.

On campus, there is a wide range of recreational facilities where students can practice, play, and participate when it is convenient for them. VPSM believes that co-curricular activities such as sports, drama, music, dance, debates, and so on are just as important as academic activities because they allow students to work as a team in a fun and relaxed environment while also developing leadership, team-orientation, communication, and coordination skills among the students who participate.

Dr Sanja Samirana Patnaik, Chairman of the MBA Programme, welcomed the dignitaries and provided an overview of the MBA Programme and the school's objectives. He also greeted the students and praised them on selecting the proper business school. He also stated that the school's goal is to be among the top ten business schools in the country within the next ten years.

“We seek to inculcate the ‘spirit of inquiry, independent thinking, and data-based decision-making,” stated Dr Prafulla Agnihotri, Dean of VPSM and former Professor of IIM Calcutta and Founding Director of IIM Tiruchirappalli. “The highly interactive pedagogy and practical approach to learning adopted by the exceptionally experienced and qualified faculty, with PhDs from reputed Indian and international universities and several research papers and publications in renowned journals in their fields, help to foster this spirit of learning. A participant-centered pedagogy is used by the faculty. The pedagogy includes case studies, simulation games, group projects, and internships, as well as the most up-to-date pedagogical tools and curriculum. Its goal is to generate effective learning experiences that will last a lifetime. Faculty members guarantee that close mentorship and relationships are fostered, which we believe is what makes studying at VPSM unique.”, he continued.

The two-year VPSM MBA programme is divided into six trimesters. It is built on a tried-and-true model used by the IIMs and the world's leading schools. The BBA curriculum lasts three years and six semesters, and it provides deeper understanding of the concepts and ideas taught in the BBA fundamental and MBA advanced courses.

The statutory regulating agencies such as the AICTE (All India Council Technical Education) and the UGC (University Grants Commission) have all recognised the programmes offered at VPSM.
