PG Diploma in Journalism and Media convergence - Batch of 2020
4.2

Our college provides a great course curriculum but has average placements.
Placements: Placements for journalism are not provided in our college. Media related companies don't visit for placements. Only advertising and PR course have placements. I suggest that don't depend on the college for placements if you are a journalism student.
Infrastructure: You don't get hostels in XIC. However, PGs are very easily available, and the college will provide a number of PGs. The infrastructure of our college is amazing, and the classrooms are spacious and well-equipped. Our college has two campuses, and one is in Xavier's college, while the other one is in Xavier High School, which takes 5 minutes to reach by walk. Classes are held alternately every month at every campus.
Faculty: Our college has the best faculty members. Journalists with an experience of more than 20 years will teach students here. Most of the modules provided are worth it, and you will learn a lot from the teachers. The course curriculum is completely relevant. Modules are insightful except a few, which might be irrelevant.

Amazing subjects + great faculty.
Placements: No placements provided as it's a working professionals course. Everyone is a working professional so no placements are provided. Everyone from different backgrounds come for this course because they would like to know more about how media works in the present world.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college campus is A+. It has all the latest equipment you would need for a media school. All the classrooms have a PC + Wi-Fi connection + projectors. We are shown ad films where an ad production class was held because learning production theoretically is not possible.
Faculty: All the faculty members were experts from their industry which gave us an insight into practical knowledge over theoretical. All the modules had practical projects over the written exam which makes it way better for you to understand things. Each faculty gave us a practical project to work on as per the subject to expand our understanding.
Other: I chose this course because I didn't want to leave my job.

XIC provides the best college experience for a communications student.
Placements: The best placements are provided in the advertising industry. Prominent employers include Publicizes Group, Dentsu Network etc. The college helps students align their interests with the industry requirements. They ensure 100% placements for all the students.
Infrastructure: Everything that is needed to hone your skills in the advertising industry is available in the college. Wi-Fi facility is available. Well-equipped labs are available with the latest version of important software. A well-stocked library is available with all types of books and DVDs.
Faculty: The course is extensive covering the main facts of advertising, that gives a wholesome insight into how the industry works. Each module is well thought of and thoroughly planned. Assignments keep the students busy all year long and are planned in such a way that we learn much more than what is taught in the module. Insightful and worth every penny.
Placements: The internships are mandatory and a part of the course curriculum. The college assists in setting up the internships for all the 60 students. These are with the leading PR agencies in the country. Agencies like Genesis Burson-Marsteller, MSL, Text 100, Adfactors, Cohn & Wolfe are some of the names that recruit the students year on year. After your internship, most of the students are given a pre-placement offer by the firms. They have the choice to accept or reject the same. Further, at the end of the course, the placements are arranged for those remaining. The entire process is handled meticulously by the course head.
Infrastructure: St. Xavier's college is known for its campus. XIC classrooms are fully air-conditioned. Each classroom is supported by a technical room to assist with the audio-visual requirements during the lecture sessions. The classrooms have the projectors, a computer with internet, and speakers set up. There's a resourceful library with books across genres, 3 IT labs each with a host of computers set up for the students to work on their assignments or for research, a girl's common room to rest, a meeting room, and a faculty lounge room. The canteen of St. Xavier's college is perhaps the best among all the colleges in Mumbai with a variety of snacks and meal options. While the lunch thali isn't quite delectable, other items such as chaat, pasta, pav bhaji, south Indian, etc. are a delight.
Faculty: The course head Mr Chawla works tirelessly to ensure that the course runs smoothly. The rest of the faculty are industry experts who take the time to conduct the sessions. Each module is handled by an expert from that sphere of the communication. This enables the students to get diverse views and perspectives and benefit from the knowledge imparted by the varied set of professors. Not to forget, the support staff who are extremely warm and welcoming and approachable at all times for any needs.
Other: Istoria - the annual event is put together by the PR and Corp Comm students and gives them hands-on experience in organising an event.

The perfect place to learn and grow.
Placements: Well, we had some non-profit organisations that came for the placements. It is not necessary that you would be paid as per your expectation straight away. The starting was as basic as Rs. 15,000 per month. The students were mostly hired for the field work rather than into the research and operational process.
Infrastructure: The facilities in the college are up to the mark. We had proper computer labs, photography studio, quick responding, and student-friendly administrating staff, regular provision of class notes, and a library that catered books of the various genres. Though the Wi-Fi was a bit of a problem, it is good. We had a common canteen with St. Xavier's College, and the food was edible. There is no hostel provision for the students.
Faculty: We were taught by some of the best faculty members. The course curriculum was flexible. We had regular field visits, and the assignments were assigned to us based on them. We were taught professionally, and the curriculum quite practical and logical.
