UCEED Admissions 2024: IIT Bombay Fee Structure for BDes Programme

The fee structure for the B.Des program offered by UCEED 2024 participating colleges is determined by the individual college. Here we bring you the institute-wise fee structure. So, keep reading!

Aspirants who meet the eligibility criteria for admission basis the UCEED score/rank are eligible to secure admission in colleges accepting UCEED ranks for admission.

IIT Bombay is one college that offers admission to aspirants basis their rank in UCEED exam. A total of 37 seats are available for admission at the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay in the BDes course.

For B.Des course, SC/ST/PwD candidates are exempted from payment of Tuition fees. Most economically backward students, that is, whose family income is less than Rs 1 lakh per annum shall get full remission of tuition fees. Other economically backward students, that is, whose family income is Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per annum, shall get remission of 2/3rd of the fee.

Q:   How many B.Des seats are offered by the participating institutes of UCEED 2024?

A:

There are SIX participating institutes of UCEED 2024.

IIT Roorkee has newly joined the list of UCEED 2024 participating colleges.

These participating institutes offer a combined intake of 225 (up from 205 seats in the previous edition) seats for the B. Des programme. Admission to the B. Des programme will be based on UCEED 2024 merit. Of the five participating institutes, IIT Jabalpur has the highest intake at 66 seats. Meanwhile, IIT Bombay, which is the most sought after college has an intake of 37 seats. Note that the seat intake has been divided into various categories like Open, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and PwD.

Q:   How can I select a UCEED 2024 participating institute for admission to the B.Des programme?

A:
The candidate has to select a participating institute at the time of filling the UCEED 2024 counseling application form. The registration for UCEED 2024 counseling will open sometime in March 2024. Note that the allotment of seats will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in UCEED 2024 and college option opted for at the time of registration. The admission committee will given preference to the higher ranked candidate in the allotment process. So, to give oneself a better chance of getting admission to ones preferred college, one must try to get a higher rank.

Q:   Will I be considered for admission to the B. Des programme at UCEED 2024 participating colleges if I do not get a merit rank?

A:
The seat allotment to UCEED 2024 participating colleges will be through the Joint Admission Process conducted by IIT Bombay. Note that only such candidates who have been allocated a merit rank in UCEED 2024 are eligible to participate in the seat allotment process. The allotment of seats will be on the basis of merit rank of the candidate in UCEED 2024 and college option opted at the time of counseling registration. Also, to be included in the UCEED 2024 merit list, the candidate needs to have qualified Part A. Note that Part B answer booklets will be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A.

The fee structure of IIT Bombay basis UCEED 2024 has not been declared yet. However, candidates can go through the detailed fee structure of BDes programme offered at IIT Bombay on the basis of a candidate’s rank in UCEED 2021. Aspirants are also informed that in addition to the below-mentioned fee structure, each student has to pay per semester mess advance of Rs 13,000 (every semester) and mess advance of Rs 20,000.

Q:   What is the category-wise seat intake for the B. Des programme at IIT Bombay through UCEED 2024?

A:
IIT Bombay is among the top design colleges in the country. So, most candidates appearing in the UCEED exam will want to know about the category-wise seat matrix at the institute: Open category - 15 seats EWS - 3 seats OBC-NCL - 10 seats SC - 5 seats ST - 2 seats ST-PwD - 1 seat Note that candidates belonging to open category will not be considered for admission under other categories. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will also be considered for admission under open category.

Q:   What are the participating institutes of UCEED 2024?

A:
The participating institutes of UCEED 2024 are colleges that will offer admission to B. Des courses on the basis of UCEED 2024 scores. These institutes will participate in the joint seat allocation process conducted by IIT Bombay. There are currently five participating institutes of UCEED 2024. The counseling registration for admission to UCEED 2023 participating colleges will be held sometime in mid-March 2024. The seat allotment will be done in THREE rounds. The 1st round of allotment will be announced around the 2nd week of April 2024.

Q:   Can I get admission in IIT Hyderabad with 100 merit rank in UCEED 2025?

A:
The closing rank for IIT Hyderabad in 2022 was 43. So, if you secure a merit rank of 3 in the UCEED 2024 exam, you chances of admission to the B. Des will be very low. To have a good chance of admission into the institute, you must target a UCEED 2024 merit rank within the top 40. However, note that if you belong to reserved categories, in that case the cut-off would be lower. Further, you will be considered for admission under both the reserved category and open category.

Q:   Is VIT School of Design, Vellore, a participating institute of UCEED 2024?

A:
The VIT School of Design (V-SIGN), Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, is not a participating institute of UCEED. In fact, in the previous edition of the exam, the institute was a result-sharing institute. Note that the list of UCEED result-sharing institute is updated every year. So, it cannot be confirmed just yet whether VIT School of Design will be a result-sharing institute of UCEED 2024 or not. It the institute joins as one of the result-sharing institutes, then it will allocate some seats in its UG programme on the basis of UCEED 2024 scores.

Q:   Do the participating colleges of UCEED 2024 offer M.Des programme?

A:
Candidates may note that admission to the M.Des programme will be through the CEED 2024 exam, which is also conducted by IIT Bombay. There are 8 participating institute of CEED 2024. These are: IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Jodhpur. Note that IIT Bombay will not conduct any Joint Seat Allotment process for CEED 2024 participating colleges. Instead, the candidate has to apply directly to the participating institute on the basis of the CEED 2024 merit rank.

The placements are awesome. The average package offered is INR 19.5 LPA. Recruiting companies are good and famous enough. The placement record of the college is 95% and the highest package offered by the college was 36.9 LPA, while the lowest is INR 15 LPA.
