The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released a revised academic calendar for technical institutions. The engineering counseling for admission for allotment of seats to be completed on or before August 15, 2020.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released a revised academic calendar for technical institutions. As per the circular, the last date for the grant to give approval to technical institutions has been extended to June 15.

The grant has also extended the deadline for engineering counselling dates and affiliation dates. Now the first round of counseling which was supposed to complete on or before June 30, has now been extended to August 15. The last date of filling up seats against the vacancies has also been extended from August 15 to August 31.

"In February, AICTE had invited application for grant of approval for the academic year 2020-21. However, with the coronavirus outbreak in the country and the lockdown imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread, the process of approval could not be completed as specified in the APH. The approval process requires scrutiny for verification of documents followed by the expert committee visit and other processes as specified in the Approval Process Handbook (APH) of the council,” stated AICTE letter.

Except for PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) courses the session will commence from August 1.  The PGDM classes will begin from July 1, the AICTE circular stated.

The academic cycle of PGDM courses for fresh batch has been pushed by a month as now it will begin from August 1, 2020, and get over by July 21, 2021; instead of the earlier schedule of July to June end.

The last date for admission to open and distance learning courses has remained unchanged, for July and January cycle.
AICTE has also approached the Supreme Court to extend the date for the grant of approval until June 15,  with proportionate modification in the academic calendar. The last date for submitting the online application was February 28 for new institutions and March 5 for the existing institutions.
