Another NIT Hamirpur student bags whopping INR 1.09 crore salary package

Sabhya Sood, a student of Computer Science and Electronics Engineering, received the offer from Amazon in the United Kingdom (UK). 

Covid-19 outbreak and its fallout on Indian and the global economy notwithstanding, several students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur have bagged job offers from top companies at impressive salaries this year.  

Sabhya Sood, a student of Computer Science and Electronics Engineering, has received an annual salary package of INR 1.09 crore from in the United Kingdom (UK). Earlier, Nishant Handa, a final year student of dual degree (BTech plus Mtech) programme of Computer Science and Engineering Department, NIT Hamirpur, received an annual package of INR 1.51 crore from Bloomberg, a US-based company. 

Lalit Awasthi, Director, NIT Hamirpur, said as many as 11 students were hired by Amazon India at a package of Rs 32 lakh per annum and 50 more students were offered a package of Rs 16 lakh per annum and above by organisations such as Mathworks, Texas Instruments, Siemens Healthineers, Avalara, Paytm, Samsung, Increff, etc. 

He said the placement session of NIT Hamirpur for the 2021-22 batch was held in July. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, over 60 companies had conducted their recruitment drive through online mode till now. 

Around 330 students from different BTech/dual degree engineering programmes were placed in good organisations in the first three months. 

Apart from this, around 50 students of the pre-final year have been offered internships with a monthly stipend between INR 30,000 and INR 1 lakh per month in companies such as Standard Chartered, Oracle, GAP, Accenture, Texas Instruments, Wells Fargo and Salesforce. 

NIT Hamirpur was initially set up as Regional Engineering College (REC) in 1986, with only two departments— Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering as compared with 13 departments at present. It was in 2002, REC was given the status of the deemed university and upgraded to NIT Hamirpur. At present, the institute runs a variety of UG, PG and doctoral courses across streams such as engineering, architecture, sciences, humanities & social sciences and management.
