Only students who have completed a Diploma in any of the engineering disciplines are allowed to apply for admission to pertinent BTech course through lateral entry. BTech Lateral Entry Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who are planning to apply for BTech lateral entry admissions must have completed a 3-year full-time (regular) diploma in engineering successfully.
  • For BTech lateral entry admissions, students must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in a 3-year diploma (Engineering – any stream) after the Class 10 board exam.
  • Students who have pursued a 3-year diploma after class 12 board exams are also eligible for admission to the BTech course through lateral entry. It is up to students whether they want to pursue a diploma in engineering after class 10 or class 12.

BTech lateral entry admissions offered by engineering institutes is also based on the entrance exam score. Different institutes consider different entrance exams. Most of the regional government and private colleges take admission on the basis of state entrance exams. Some deemed universities and autonomous institutes might conduct their own entrance exam for lateral entry admissions.
