Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT) Guwahati invites creative and talented minds to participate in the ‘COVID-19 Grand Challenge’ and contribute their ideas to fight the deadly novel coronavirus. The competition is open for UG, PG, and PhD Research Scholars & Project staff of IIT Guwahati. Taking the responsibility to contribute towards ‘Fight against Coronavirus’ and seeking a solution from the students’ community on measures that can be adopted on a priority basis to tackle this pandemic crisis, the prestigious institute organized the challenge.

The programme is targeted at empowering students to conduct research and develop potential solutions to contain the coronavirus spread in India. Interested students of IIT Guwahati can work on any one of the broad objectives listed below:

  • Detection of infected persons
  • Precautions to halt its spread
  • Newer treatment approaches
  • Society impact
  • Behavior changes
  • Disease outbreak pattern
  • Resources distribution
  • Transportation of goods
  • Migration of humans
  • Supporting health care workers
  • Supporting essential services
  • Any other appropriate

Applicants including project staff of IIT Guwahati are required to submit their initial proposal on the official website of COVID-19 Challenge i.e. www.iitg.ac.in/acad/covid19.php. The initial proposal must be of a maximum of 300 words. The last date to submit the proposal is April 9. The shortlisted ideas will be mentored by domain experts to transform their ideas into viable business propositions. The applicant will get a chance to work with domain experts and see their ideas transform into potential solutions to combat the deadly novel coronavirus. Best ideas can win prizes worth Rs 10,000 and certificates from India’s one of the best technical institutes.
