Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has requested all the students to utilize this lockdown time to explore University Grants Commission (UGC) MOOCs for different undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has requested all the students to utilize this time to explore University Grants Commission (UGC) MOOCs for different undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by UGC through its microblogging site Twitter.

He also urged students to remain motivated through these MOOCs amid the ongoing nationwide coronavirus lockdown.

The UGC MOOCs are a vertical of Study Webs and Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM), a venture launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to support students connected to academics during this lockdown.

The HRD minister through Twitter asked students to pursue UGC MOOCs and take up the courses as per their choice while exploring the platform.

The main aim with this is to make sure this extended academic break is not going to get wasted and students are using this time to study the subjects of their choice. The students will have the opportunity to catch up with their studies and strengthen in subjects of their choice.

This platform of SWAYAM gives students the opportunity of exploring from 100 postgraduate courses and 207 undergraduate courses across various subjects.

As per some of the media reports, SWAYAM, which was launched by MHRD has been accessed by more than 2.5 lakh times until April 8, 2020. Last week, HRD ministry had also asked all postgraduate students to take advantage of the time on their hands and explore all the content available on e-PG Pathshala during the lockdown.
