IISc Bengaluru among top 100 ‘computer science’ Universities in World: THE Rankings 2022

IISc has also been ranked as the best engineering institutions from India 

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has been ranked among the top 100 ‘computer science’ universities in the world, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 by subject: computer science. IISc has been ranked 81 with an overall score of 56.4, it is folllowed by IIT Indore ranked between 201-250.  

IISc Bengaluru has also been ranked as the best engineering institution from India in the recently released ranking.

As many as eight Indian universities have been ranked among the top 500 universities in the world, in the Computer Science category. There are 52 institutions from India ranked in the engineering category.
In the ‘Engineering’ category, five institutions from India have been ranked among the top 500 Engineering institutions in the World in the World University Rankings 2022 by subject. In this category also, the Indian Institute of Science is the best institution from India, with a rank in the range of 101–125.

With as many as seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) continue to boycott Times Ranking, IIT Indore is the second-best Indian engineering institution in the country in both the categories of ranking released by THE.

The seven older IITs last year decided to boycott THE Ranking after not a single Indian institution made it to the top 300. The seven IITs are Madras, Delhi, Mumbai, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Guwahati and Kanpur.

There are 27 Indian institutions ranked in the Computer Science category. Among the best in the world, the University of Oxford leads the table for the fourth consecutive year, while Princeton University joins the top 10 after climbing one place to 10th.

The US is now home to all of the top four universities for engineering, following improvements for Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley. Harvard University tops the ranking for the second year.
