IIT Mandi to start first-year BTech classes from Dec 1

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi will welcome the new BTech batch of 2021 virtually. Regular classes of BTech first-year students will begin in the online mode on December 1 with the orientation taking place on November 22. Students can attend virtual classes from their homes as a precautionary measure against COVID-19. While the fee payment, online registration and uploading of documents will take place on November 23 and 24, induction programme will be held in the online mode from November 25 to 30.

49 students get PPOs from top companies
Meanwhile, 49 students of the institute received pre-placement offers (PPOs) from major recruiters such as Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart, etc, during August-October 2021. The institute took to Twitter to announce the same. It tweeted, “Happy to share that 49 students have received PPOs from #Microsoft, #Amazon, #Truminds, #Walmart, #Optum, #DEShaw, #Adobe, #Rokubunnoni, #Yum!, #Salesforce, #MorganStanley, #Samsung, #Adansons, #Weathernews, #Intuit and #ENJOYLLC during Aug-Oct 2021 - a big jump from last year!”
The institute conducted its ninth convocation on October 23. A total of 452 students were conferred upon graduation degrees. IIT Mandi has witnessed a rise in the number of girl students passing out in all programmes. This year, a total of 23 female students in undergraduate programme; 69 in postgraduate and masters programmes, and 12 in PhD programme have graduated from IIT Mandi surpassing the numbers from the previous years, the institution said in a statement.
IIT Mandi is one of the eight new IITs established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2009. At present, the institute has four schools, including School of Computing and Electrical Engineering, School of Basic Sciences, School of Engineering and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Together, these schools offer over 25 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD level.
