He also among one of the toppers (100 percentile) in JEE Main 2020 January exam. He dedicated the performance in JEE Advanced to his teachers and parents.

Shiksha.com got his exclusive interview today where he shared the plans ahead after qualifying the JEE Advanced 2020 and further studies. Excerpts:

Q. What was your preparation strategy to get such a good ranking JEE Advanced 2020?

A. My coaching institute helped me in the preparation. They helped in preparing the study plan and identifying the weak areas in different subjects. They also helped in overcoming the doubts related to any concept in a subject. My parents also supported me in my studies in every possible way. Regarding JEE Advanced, I want to say one thing that no matter how well you practice, there will be new questions and you must have a thorough understanding of concepts to solve those questions.

Q. How did your parents help in the JEE Advanced 2020 preparation?

A. My parents were quite supportive during my entire preparation. During the lockdown, they used to talk and motivate me for studies. They have never pressurised me to get a good rank and suggested me to study well for the exam. They always encouraged me whenever I felt a little nervous. They were in constant touch with the teacher regarding my studies.

Q. Since when you have started preparing for the JEE Advanced?

A. I have started my preparation for JEE Advanced from class 9. At that time, the focus was on learning basics concepts important from exam point of view and clearing concepts in all three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Along with completing the school syllabus our coaching mentors also focussed on solving the questions that are of JEE Advanced level.

Q. How much you used to study daily? How did you keep yourself fit during the study period?

A. I used to study 12 to 13 hours daily. During the study time in a day, I have allocated time for my class 12 board, JEE Main and JEE Advanced preparation. Due to this, I was able to prepare for all the three exams well. To keep myself fit I used to drink a lot of water as it keeps my body hydrated and cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues. I also ensured to take a break of 10 minutes every 2 hours of study. It helped to keep my brain and eyes relaxed.

Q. What will be your preferred branch and institute on qualifying the JEE Advanced 2020?

A. My most preferred branch will be Computer Science Engineering (CSE) in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. Mathematics at IIT Bombay will also be one of the preferred engineering streams.
