JEE Main 2021 exam to be held in more regional languages: Education Minister

The Education Minister on October 22 tweeted that the NTA would be conducting JEE Main in various regional languages from 2021.

The  National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021 in more regional Indian languages where admissions to State Engineering Colleges is based on an JEE Main. NTA will add more languages to this list for the exams starting 2021 apart from Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi and English.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank shared this information in a tweet on October 22, 2020. The minister explained that this is to focus on promoting the mother tongue in the National Education Policy (NEP). However, the education ministry has not shared any information regarding the names of new languages.

Nishank also added further that students who could not score well earlier due to the language barrier they would be able to score more due to these possible changes. This will also increase the number of participants willing to appear for the JEE Main examination.

NTA conducts JEE Main entrance exam in two sessions (January/April) for admission to BE/BTechBPlan, and BArch courses at the IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), NITs (National Institute of Technology), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) across the country.
