NIRF Rankings 2021: NIT Surathkal among top 10 engineering colleges, replaces IIT Indore
The institute has improved its position by three places in the NIRF engineering rankings from 13th in 2020 to 10th in 2021.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Surathkal has entered the top 10 list of engineering colleges in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021, replacing the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore as per NIRF rankings 2020. NIT Surathkal ranked 13th among engineering schools and 33rd in the overall rankings in the NIRF 2020 rankings.
There is not much change seen in NIRF 2021 list in terms of top nine engineering colleges. It is only at Rank 10 that a change is seen with NIT Surathkal entering the list and taking the spot, replacing IIT Indore from 2020. Among the 31 NITs spread across the country, NIT Surathkal is the only institution to have the distinction of having all of its engineering disciplines (UG programmes) accredited for a maximum period of six years.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the NIRF rankings 2021 on September 9, 2021, virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, a new category has been introduced of Top Research Institutes of the country in which IISc Bengaluru has secured the top rank.
As per the NIRF Rankings 2021, the top 10 engineering colleges in the country are IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, NIT Tiruchirappalli, and NIT Surathkal. Check the complete list below.
