NIT Andhra Pradesh commences in-person classes for M.Tech students

The physical classes for 2021-23 Students will be commencing after observing two weeks of the mandatory quarantine period.

First Year M. Tech students have joined the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Andhra Pradesh campus as their physical classes will be commencing after two weeks of the mandatory quarantine period.

A total of 46 students have joined the M.Tech programme at NIT Andhra Pradesh this academic year (2021-22). The NIT AP campus was closed for the students during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, two more specializations have been added to M.Tech courses, namely Bioprocess Engineering and Chemical Engineering. These students are the second batch of M.Tech. Students in the institute with the first batch having classes in online mode last year.

Addressing the inaugural session, Prof. C.S.P. Rao, Director, NIT Andhra Pradesh, said, “You will study different subjects in every semester. You have to explore each subject of your interest to its depth. Teachers and parents can guide you but ultimately it will be you who will be designing your future. I am sure you are in the position to make your future. I only request you not to waste time. The things you will lose today cannot be gained tomorrow because tomorrow, there will be several other things to do.”

Last year M.Tech programme was in six specializations namely Geotechnical Engineering, Computer Science and Data Analytics, Power Electronics and Drive, Advanced Communication System and Signal Processing, Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.

Addressing the program, Dr T. Kurmayya, Dean (Academic Affairs), NIT Andhra Pradesh, said: “Last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Institute has conducted offline classes for M. Tech first-year students and now they have completed the first year and are working on special projects. Some students are already placed with Rs. Six lakh package per annum.”

Dr Dinesh Sankar Reddy, Registrar of the institute said that the NIT Andhra Pradesh is the 31st NIT and the youngest NIT in India. Even though it’s the youngest NIT but still competing with many of the prestigious Institutes in terms of placements and other innovations.
