North-East region gets 3 more NIELIT centres

Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar inauguarted NIELIT centres in Manipur’s Churachandpur district physically and two other centres in Assam’s Kokrajhar and Tezpur districts virtually.

The minister also upgraded two existing National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) centres in Imphal (Manipur) and Aizawl (Mizoram) from Churachandpur through virtual mode. While inaugurating the centres, Chandrasekhar said the Centre in collaboration with state governments would make NIELIT centres job-creation centres. “These will not just be training centres in the coming years, rather these will empower youth with skills and get them into the runway of opportunity and jobs,” he said. 

He said India was going to have the opportunity of providing more and more trained and skilled youngsters not just in basic computer skill, but also in various other fields, including electronic manufacturing and maintenance and repair. 

He further said the Centre was encouraging more companies to start coming to the North-East region on the back of NIELIT centres and start hiring directly from there. 

NIELIT is an autonomous scientific body under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MoE&IT), Government of India. NIELIT exam is conducted twice a year in January and April for admission to various formal and non-formal courses becoming India’s premier institution for Examination and Certification in the field of IECT (Information Electronics and Communication Technology). Till now, NIELIT has acquired Training in IT software and training courses in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses under the titles as non-formalcourses - O Level, A Level, B Level and C Level and also formalwhich are not generally offered by Universities/Institutes in the formal sector in association with respective state universities.
