Pursue PhD at Nirma University

The Institute of Management, Nirma University, has invited applications for PhD (Full Time/ External).

Eligibility

• PhD full time programme: master's degree or equivalent (such as PGDM) with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for final examination can also apply, provided they satisfy the eligibility requirement by June 30, 2013.
• PhD external programme: (a) A Master's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade recognized by the Nirma University. In addition, the candidate should have at least three years full-time teaching experience in management or related discipline or five years of relevant industrial work experience at managerial level. (b) Notwithstanding anything contained above, the Director (NU) may make relaxation in the above criteria in individual case based on the genuineness and the merit of the case.

Selection Process

For PhD Fulltime:

1. Written Test (consists of the following four sections: Quantitative Skills, Verbal Skills, Logic and Data Interpretation, MBA Social and General Awareness). A total of 120 questions are to be attended within two hours. Each section consists of 30 questions. Negative marks will be assigned for wrong/incorrect answer. The test will be objective type with multiple choice items.
2. Personal Interview: Candidates short-listed on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for personal interview on the same day written test itself.
3. Final Selection would be based on:  Written Test : 50% + Personal Interview : 50%

For PhD external:

Applications with the proposal will be submitted before a committee consisting of the Dean of the Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research, the Dean of the Faculty of Management, DPM Chairperson, the Faculty Guide and one faculty from the area in which the research scholar is interested to pursue his research work. On the recommendations of this Committee the candidates will be registered for the Doctoral Programme in Management.

Application Form

Prospective candidates are required to fill in the application form, which can be obtained on sending a request along with a demand draft for Rs 1000 (for PhD) in favour of Institute of Management, Nirma University payable at Ahmedabad. The application form can also be downloaded from the official website and submitted along with the prescribed fee.

Fees & Financial assistance

PhD External	Rs. 30,000/- per annum
PhD Fulltime	Doctoral Students will be provided a stipend of Rs12,000 per month in the first year and second year and Rs 14,000 from the third year onwards (likely to be revised). The stipend will be renewed every year upto a maximum of four years subject to satisfactory performance of the student. The students will not be charged tuition fee but will have to pay for books, course materials, lodging, boarding, and other expenses. As part of their stipend, the students will be required to work on campus for about 20 hours per week on administrative and research assignments.
