Students’ Speak: Thorough revision is key in last days of JEE preparation
By: Lakshay Saini
Preparing from NCERT books, solving previous years' question papers, focusing on revision and avoiding a new topic at the last minute are few strategies that will help with JEE prep.
Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is not that hard as it is thought to be. However, it is not a piece of cake either. A person, who has focus and passion, can easily clear this exam with a moderate amount of time deviation towards their study.
Here in this article, I will cover some common yet useful tips about the preparation for JEE Main.
Create personal notes
Touching new topics in the last month of your preparation is not a good idea. Now is the time to revise strong topics that will surely make you clear the exam with good score. Your personal notes will be your most powerful weapons and believe me NCERTs are great books for Chemistry and Physics section. Last year papers should be solved by you before going to your exam.
Stay focused
Believe me guys, time management is a most precious factor not only in JEE Mains but also in your life. Focus. This is not only a word but also a whole concept of success in life. In my opinion, studying 18-24 hours is not recommended because it will give you stress and may deviate your focus. However, you should spend enough time with your notes and books and do your revision as much as possible. Staying away from your phone and laptop is recommended because this exam can change your life. I think we all can sacrifice our friendship with these gadgets just for some time.
Study NCERT books
For JEE Mains you have to solve the NCERT books for all the three subjects which will automatically help for the preparation of your boards. I know that JEE mains is tougher than boards and we all devote more time for the preparation of JEE Main but boards also have an important role and you should be focused on both. For boards clearly, NCERT and previous years’ questions are just perfect to help you score good marks easily. For JEE Main, you have to focus on some others notes and guides and for our base, NCERT is strongly recommended. Managing your Class 12th studies along with JEE Main is not very tough. You just need to be focused and have clarity in your mind about your future.
Solve previous years’ paper
Chemistry: For physical Chemistry, you should focus only on NCERT because it is sufficient for this exam and the previous year question of JEE mains will be enough for you. The end chapters of Class 11th and Class 12th are very important for scoring purposes.
Math: The most important topics for mathematics is calculus, coordinate geometry and 3D geometry. These chapters contain 15-16 questions of mathematics section and if you are able to solve these ones then you will easily crack the maths section. Probability, stats are should be done only from NCERT.
Physics: Most important parts for physics are modern Physics, optics and electromagnetics. End chapters of Class 11 also play a vital role in the Physics section.
Solving previous years’ papers are highly recommended because it will give you an idea about the coming exam and some questions will surely repeat from the previous years’ papers.
Focus on revision in last week
In the last week before the exam, you should not focus on new topics and books, it will only give you confusion. Your old notes will give you a perfect platform for your revision. In this phase, you should only focus on the revision of your strong topics because it will give you confidence which plays a vital factor in JEE Main.
