Q:   Can students with minimum cutoff get a seat at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Film, TV and Animation Studies (BVBFTS)?

A:

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Film, TV and Animation Studies (BVBFTS) offers Diploma programs in film, television, and radio. The admission to all the UG and PG programs is based on a candidate's aptitude for the media industry and their performance in the admission test and Personal Interview (PI) round conducted by the department. Candidates who have completed their Class 12 from a recognised board and have the required aptitude for the chosen programme are eligible to apply to BVBFTS. The department provides over 10 full-time and part-time Diploma courses in the field of Film, Television, and Radio. The seats are limited, and admission is competitive. The courses are project-oriented, and nearly 60% of the time is spent on practical work.

The BVBFTS education policy is "LEARNING BY DOING, " and the course curriculum is 'Industry Oriented.' The institute has a strong emphasis on practical training in TV production, TV journalism, photography, animation, and related subjects. The institute's website emphasizes that theoretical knowledge and a degree with good marks alone are not sufficient to get a job in the industry.

The admission process includes an admission test and a personal interview, and candidates are required to submit a paragraph of 300 words about "Why do you want to join this course." Limited seats are available in all courses, and classes are residential with no correspondence courses. The institute does not provide any hostel facility, and students have to manage their stay in Delhi. Once the online application form is filled, candidates will receive a call within 24 hours from the BVB office to fix an appointment and date for the admission test.

In conclusion, it is clear that the admission process is competitive, and the institute emphasizes practical training and industry-oriented learning. Therefore, meeting the minimum cutoff alone may not guarantee a seat at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Film, TV and Animation Studies (BVBFTS).

The course curriculum should be upgraded, and our college should hire creative people as teachers.
Placements: Some of our batch mates got placed with their own efforts. None of the companies visited here, or on-campus placements are not conducted ever. The average salary offered ranges from Rs. 10,000-15,000 per month. We got internships with the help of previously graduated students from our college, but internships don't work for every student for a long time.
Infrastructure: Our college has an underground floor of Mehta Bhavan which has barely 5 or 6 rooms. The library is like a stall, and all the equipment is old. I am very disheartened with all these fake advertisements and placement rates. Our college doesn't have a hostel and sports and games. It is a pretty outdated-college, and students are not active. This college surely make you media experts but not creative.
Faculty: Faculty members are really nice and helpful, but they don't help when you want to gain knowledge. There must be creative people of industry as teachers who are well-equipped with all the resources and trending knowledge. The course curriculum is old, which was fine in the 90's, but it hasn't upgraded yet.
Other: Our college conducted a 10 or 8 days trip to Rishikesh, which is the only best part of this course and campus. I wish that our college should provide hands-on experience with practicals. All teachers are really nice and welcoming, but the course curriculum should be upgraded.

A 10 day study tour in Rishikesh to gain practical knowledge.
Placements: In my batch, around 95% of students got placed even before course was over. The highest package was around 3.5 Lacs, the lowest was around 1 Lacs and the average was 1.8 to 2 Lacs.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good they have a very big campus. Wi-Fi is available on every floor. Computer labs are very good. They provide Apple MACs and windows for video editing they are very updated technically. Canteen is very good.
Faculty: Teachers are very good and very qualified. They will help you at every point and guide you in a good direction. It is a very good college for 1-year Diploma. The course curriculum is very easy and practicals are very good. You will have 10 days study tour in Rishikesh where you will gain practical knowledge.

The best college for media courses.
Placements: The college doesn't provide any placement opportunities. Our faculty members referred us to various companies of our respective fields. Students are offered opportunities to do an internship for 1-2 months at Doordarshan.
Infrastructure: Labs, classrooms, library, sports and games, and all other facilities were average as the college was not that spacious. Quality of all the amenities was good as there were good seating arrangements and proper equipment during my tenure. Canteen facility was not available.
Faculty: The teachers were highly educated in their respective fields, and hence, were able to provide proper assistance and guidance to the students. The faculty and students have a good relationship, and the faculty were friendly and understanding. The highlight is the educational trip to Rishikesh organised by the college.

Review of Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan.
Placements: This college gives internships to the best news channel, production houses and Doordarshan as well according to the capability of the students. It depends upon us (students) that we are able to continue our internship into a job. Bhawan gives 100% internships to the best places.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not so big or beautiful from the outside view, but classrooms, labs and equipment are well-managed and available. The canteen food is also good and hygienic. There is no hostel for students. I never faced any infrastructure issues because everything is placed properly and is well-developed.
Faculty: One thing I must mention about Bhawan is that the study tour is its best part of the whole curriculum or you can say your whole life. Every year, the college organizes a study tour to Hrishikesh and there we are in groups doing different projects like rafting, cultural events, newspaper making, canteen work, documentaries, music videos, etc by our own. No faculty member can help us, they only guide us. So, study tour is the best part. One more thing is that Bhawan will also take a monthly competition where students can win Rs 3000 per month by clearing the competition, so, you can understand that how much our faculty members will be helpful and open here.
Other: Because of Bhawan, I worked in Doordarshan and lived my life with full confidence by handling the college projects a lot. So, in this college, you have a chance to grab many things like- enjoyment, money, confidence and much more. You gain knowledge of current affairs by participating in monthly tests. Also, seminars are organized on every Saturday for students.

Q:   How do students get selected for PG Diploma and what is the minimum percentile required?

A:

Selection for PG Diploma and Minimum Percentile Required

NEET PG (Medical Postgraduate Courses)

The eligibility criteria for admission to postgraduate medical school in India has been reduced to zero percentile in NEET PG due to a substantial number of vacancies in various courses. This decision has been supported by the medical education fraternity but criticized by students. As a result, candidates scoring as low as -40 out of 800 are now eligible for PG medical admissions, and seats have been allotted to candidates scoring as low as 5 and 45 out of 800.

PG Diploma in Business Analytics

For the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA), candidates must hold a graduate/postgraduate degree with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree. For SC/ST and Person with Disabilities (PwD) category candidates, the qualifying marks for eligibility are 55% or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale. The final selection is based on a written test, personal interview, and points for Class X and XII marks, as well as work experience.

Other PG Diploma Courses

For admission into a PG Diploma course offered by Canadian universities, candidates must have completed their graduation degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate.

MBA Admission at IIMA

At the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), the minimum cut-offs of CAT-2023 percentile ranks are used for the admission/selection process for the MBA program.

In summary, the selection criteria and minimum percentile required for PG Diploma courses vary depending on the specific course and institution. For medical postgraduate courses, the eligibility criteria have been reduced to zero percentile due to a substantial number of vacancies, while other programs may have different eligibility requirements based on academic performance and specific entrance exams.
