AIHMCT WAT Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit, Educational Qualification, Physical Fitness

Army Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (AIHMCT) falls under the category of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) Professional College. In AWES colleges, children of serving Army personnel, ex-Army personnel and war widows of the Army are eligible to the admission. The children of the below mentioned categories of Army personnel meet AIHMCT WAT 2020 eligibility criteria:
AIHMCT WAT Category I
Aspirants must belong to any one of the below mentioned categories:
- Children of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years of continuous service in the Army.
- Children of Ex - Army personnel granted/ awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/ invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
- Children of Ex-Army personnel who have taken discharge or released after ten years of service.
AIHMCT WAT Category II
Adopted/Step children and children of Remarried Widows:
- Adopted Child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission.
- Step Children meet the eligibility criteria provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army who is otherwise eligible.
AIHMCT WAT Category III
Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases:
- Wards of Ex-Army Medical Corps Officers/Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (IN/IAF). Wards of only those ex-Army medical Officers/Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for at least 10 years.
- Eligibility Criteria for Children of Army Postal Service (APS)/ Military Nursing Service (MNS)/ Territorial Army (TA) Personnel:
- Children of APS personnel classified as Ex-servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated 19 Jul 89.
- Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
- Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS and have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.
- Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years of service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
- Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

Special weightage is given to wards of Gallantry Award Winners which is as mentioned below:

In order to avail the above mentioned weightage, applicants need to submit a certified photocopy of part-II order/Gazette notification regarding the award along with their AIHMCT WAT application form.
AIHMCT WAT Eligibility Criteria: Academic Qualifications
Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from any academic stream with English as a compulsory subject to meet the eligibility criteria of AIHMCT WAT exam. Candidates can also apply for admission provisionally. However, their admission will only be confirmed once they submit the proof of qualifying the exam at the time of admission.
“National Open Schooling Students (regular) should produce 11th standard certificate from school (Admission is subject to the approval of Affiliated University)”, informs the official website.
AIHMCT WAT Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit
Aspirants meet AIHMCT WAT 2020 eligibility criteria if they are not more than 22 years of age as on July 1, 2020.
AIHMCT WAT Eligibility Criteria: Physical Fitness
Candidates who are willing to appear for the AIHMCT Written Admission Test (WAT) need to make sure that they should have good general health with satisfactory limits of chest expansion and contraction, normal vision and hearing. In case of defective vision, it must be corrected to 6/9 in both eyes or 6/6 in the better eye. Defectiveness in hearing should also be corrected. There should be no abnormality in heart and lungs and no history of mental disease or epileptic seizures. The candidates must get themselves examined at the nearest Military Hospital or by a registered medical practitioner or so and submit physical fitness certificate at the time of admission. The admission is subject to the candidate being medically fit.
