The Army Institute of Law (AIL) has announced that it will be conducting the Law Entrance Test (LET) 2020 on July 24 for admissions to BA LLB course. Candidates appearing for the entrance exam should know the exam pattern, syllabus as well as strategy to prepare for AIL LET 2020 sections separately. In this article, we have mentioned some section-wise preparation tips for AIL LET 2020 to score well in the exam.

Before we begin to prepare for each section, here is an overview of section-wise questions and marks allotment for AIL LET question paper:

Preparation Tips for AIL LET 2020 Mental Ability

To prepare for Mental Ability, one needs to prepare questions based on cognitive skills. The topics included in this section are:

  • Series,
  • Coding and Decoding,
  • Blood Relations,
  • Directions,
  • Logical Venn Diagrams,
  • Completion of Series.

Candidates have to prepare the questions on a regular basis. It would be best to first clarify the concepts, learn the tricks or shortcuts of solving the questions and then practice sufficiently. Working on speed, time-management and accuracy help in getting good marks in mental ability.

Preparation Tips for AIL LET 2020 GK & Current Affairs

The section will be based on topics of significant nature in the following domains: 

  • History,
  • Politics,
  • Art and Literature,
  • Economics,
  • General Awareness,
  • Current affairs in India and the World, Science, Sports and Entertainment

Candidates can prepare for GK and current affairs section of AIL LET 2020 as under: 

  • Gather facts around the topics from authentic sources and make notes on them 
  • Practice questions at least 10-15 every day to ensure speed and accuracy is maintained
  • Read GK books, newspapers and magazines to prepare for this section
  • Take online mock tests and quiz based on the topics mentioned above to enhance test-taking skills 
  • Revise the preparation notes on weekends to retain the information 

Preparation Tips for AIL LET 2020 Law Aptitude

Candidates have to prepare the following topics of legal subjects to score well in this section:

  • Topics of Law and judiciary, 
  • The constitution of India, 
  • Current and Important legal facts, 
  • Legal terms and Principles

They can prepare the section with regular practice and making notes on legal facts and terms on a regular basis. They should read and comprehend some legal passages to attempt questions based on them. Going through case law studies would help understand the domain better. This would be a generic section and not core law, therefore, candidates should focus on understanding Legal English and terms to score well. They should take the help of the books recommended by experts for better preparation. 

Preparation Tips for AIL LET 2020 General English

This is the common subject in all the law entrance exams in India. Candidates can prepare topics like Reading Comprehension passages, Grammar, Synonyms, Antonyms, One-word substitution, Sentence completion, Spotting errors, Idioms and Phrases to score well in this section. To prepare better, candidates should: 

  • Read books, watch English learning videos and write down everything on a notebook.
  • Practice questions on a regular basis at least 10-15 a day to enhance speed and accuracy
  • For reading comprehension passages, prepare strategically i.e. don't spend time in reading the passage rather start attempting the questions
  • Enhance vocabulary by practising questions and learning new words every day
  • Clarify the key details of grammar and, take a note of common mistakes to be avoided
