The online classes are as smooth as the regular classes: Jyoti, Kamkus

These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

The lockdown due to the Corona pandemic has given all of us quite a hard time. All our plans have taken a backseat now. The worst affected in this whole scenario are the students. We students are stuck in the middle of everything. Some of us are board appearing students and some of us are final year college students both of who had made plans to step into new avenues of our lives but are now stuck up. Some are first-year students who were looking forward to new experiences of college life and yet find themselves locked up at homes. While we students deal with this dilemma our teachers and institutions are concerned with providing us with our education so that we don’t just burn our time sitting ideal.

My college is no exception. I am a law final year student and not only do I aim at clearing my college with good grades but also aim to finally shape my career and change my status from student to a working professional.

My teachers have been working really hard taking classes all day long. They are quite concerned about finishing the syllabus right on time especially the last year students because we have to prepare a lot more for the competitive exams ahead.

My college has uploaded the semester wise notes for each student on their college IDs so that they don’t fall short of the study material during this lockdown and can keep pace with their studies.

My college was also providing free coaching for judicial service exams to the top ten meritorious students of which I was also a part. My coaching teacher has been very serious regarding our studies. He spares no efforts in the matter of our studies. He gives us assignments, takes our regular online classes. He is even ready to adjust to the timing for the convenience of the students.

The online classes are as smooth as the regular classes. The lecture feels just like we are sitting in a normal class. There is proper interaction in the class between students and teachers. At first, there was a little problem adjusting to the schedule and the concept of it because it was a completely new experience for all us but now everyone is quite comfortable and is well adjusted to it.  Students also now find it comfortable since they can now take the lectures from the comfort of their homes and skip the daily hustle of dressing up and heading to the college.

Our teacher gives us assignments and then he asks about it in the online session or if it is a written one he asks it to either submit to him personally through mail or on the class Whatsapp group. We students seek help from our friends in study matter through calls or messaging services. Our college friends also interestingly keep each other motivated so one of us takes studies lightly and make sure everybody keeps pace with it. It is not only studies though that we discuss during the lockdown, but we also have our chit chats going to keep the fun on.

Luckily, we don’t have any practical kind of stuff to do so our college authorities are able to take a sigh of relief on it. Their job is done well just by providing assignments and study materials.

So while we are all locked up in our houses due to the pandemic, our teachers are making sure that our studies don’t suffer while we students are having quite an interactive session with our teachers and friends which includes both some fun and frolic and some serious studies.
