The FTII has introduced a short online course for budding filmmakers to know more about how to make documentary films.

The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has introduced a short online course on Appreciation of Documentary Films, which will be conducted online from July 1, 2020, to July 5, 2020. The last date to apply for the course was June 29, 2020. The online course will be directed by Sudipto Acharyya and the duration of the online course is for five days. The selection criteria were done on the basis of first come first serve and a total of 50 participants were allowed for the course.

About the Course

The online course is for students who have made, created and or have participated in creating documentary films and want to learn more what goes in the making of an epic documentary film. The course will highlight various issues and concerns which have been historically embedded in the practice of documentary film making which will be established around objectivity, advocacy, bias, history and aesthetics.

FTII will be using “Google Classroom” and selected students are required to create a login ID and password. The steps on how to create a login ID and password will be shared by the institute. Students are required to have the mandatory requirement such as all the basic facilities in their laptop or desktop. Students are advised that the use of mobile phones as a medium for the online class is prohibited.
