Jamia Millia to conduct final year exams in July, classes to resume in August

Jamia Millia Islamia decided to conduct examinations for final year students only. The Last date to submit the assignment is extended to June 5, 2020.

Jamia Millia Islamia took some important decisions regarding the exams that got postponed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The University also decided to conduct examinations for final year students only. According to the reports, the Academic Council (AC) of JMI conducted an important meeting on May 6 and decided to conduct examination for only final semester or year students offline between July 1 and July 31 in the university. JMI Vice-Chancellor Prof Najma Akhtar, Registrar AP Siddiqui (IPS), Deans and other members of the council attended the meeting.

The members of the meeting discussed various academic issues which got disrupted due to multiple changes in university caused by COVID- 19. An official statement released by the University stated that the AC also took a decision to adopt the new guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Some of the major decisions that the Jamia Academic Council took in the meeting are given below:

• The University will conduct online classes until May 31, 2020. Earlier it was scheduled to finish by April 30.
• The Last date to submit the assignment is extended to June 5, 2020.
• All teachers are requested to upload the assignment marks/internal assessment marks by June 15, 2020, on the website of the Controller of Examinations of the university.
• The examination will be conducted for the final semester/year students only. The University will conduct exams offline from July 1 to July 31. Students are requested to submit online examination forms as early as possible.
• The summer vacations at the university will begin from June 15 to June 30.
• The university will re-open and begin classes for regular students from August 1.
